Fasinada, Perast, Montenegro

Every year a procession of little boats leaves the beautiful waterfront village of Perast, laden with stones and rocks, and heads for Our Lady of the Rocks, the most picturesque island in the Bay of Kotor. The stones are slung overboard to bolster up the man-made island. It's well-worth taking a trip out to the island - boats leave from Perast all year round. The tiny church is packed full of icons left by sailors grateful to have escaped shipwreck or storms, and beautiful paintings and other treasures.
