Join the month long festival in Athens celebrating the carnival period before Lent - the city of Athens hosts a big free party all month long with live music throughout the city center, on Ermou Street and in Omonia and Syntagma Squares, in Thissio and in the Plaka. The festivities culminate in a day of celebration and kite flying on Filipappou Hill in the historical center of Athens on Clean Monday, March 1 (Kathera Deftera).
