Christmas Lights, Marazion/Penzance, England
15th December onwards
Every year the villages of the far west in Cornwall put on a wonderful display of Christmas Lights, celebrating the special atmosphere of the season. Mousehole is particularly famous.
Mousehole is a fishing village in West Cornwall with a most beautiful harbour. The village is illuminated usually from the Saturday in the middle of December, until the Friday at the end of the first week of the New Year. There is a switching on Ceremony, a Carolaire Night - usually with Mousehole Male Voice Choir and a Brass Band.
Every December 19th since 1981, the lights have been switched off between 8pm and 9pm in memory of the lives lost in the Penlee lifeboat disaster.
