Dickens Festival, Broadstairs, England
16th - 18th June
In 1937 Gladys Waterer who was living in Dickens House in Broadstairs decided to commemorate the centenary of Charles Dickens first visit to the town. She organised a production of David Copperfield and asked the locals to dress in Victorian dress to publicise it. The event was so successful that it has continued to this day, and is now a week long with lots of local events going on during that week.
