Au Fil de l'Eau Son-et-Lumiere, Valence d'Agen, Tarn-et-Garonne, France
End July/Beginning Aug
A great evening along the canalside in Valence d'Agen, Tarn et Garonne. The story depicts life along the canal and centres on three boys at the beginning of the 20th century and what happens during their lives as they go to school, then go to war, get married and settle down.
A spectuacular backdrop of an entire village is built along the canal, complete with school, shops, Mairie, village square and church. Events are created of a Pentecost Fair (complete with numerous animals - look out for the piglet taken into the audience!) and a wedding by the 350 participants of the show, along with a battle between the Resistance and the SS during WWII. There is a wonderful scene where the church catches fire, and the 1920's fire engine comes rushing along to douse the flames! The show is enhanced by laser lights, fireworks and compelling music. A really magical evening!
The kids love the animals and the battle scenes and, of course, the fireworks. For an even more enjoyable evening, you can start with dinner either at the site of the show, or at a local restaurant.
