St Maurin Night Market, Lot-et-Garonne, France
July/August
During July/August, many local villages hold 'Night Food Markets'. Our local village, St Maurin, holds one every Wednesday night during these months and it is hugely popular with holidaymakers and locals alike.
Up to 400 people enjoy the choice of meals offered by local 'producteurs' who sell a variety of meals (including toulouse sausage, duck, duckburgers! foie gras, pate, chicken, steak, goats cheese salad, pizza, mussels and snails) which are then eaten sitting at long tables in the picturesque village square. Other stalls sell bread, melons, tomato salad, wine, cheese and cured meats, ice creams and biscuits. A band entertain us through the evening, which always ends with some very lively dancing!
