About our Gites:
Set in the heart of the Parc Naturel des Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin, Les Gites Champetres are located on the edge of the quiet village of Sainteny which is less than one hour from the port of Cherbourg and city of Caen.
Chestnut Cottage, one of three near identical gtes, provides an outstanding base from which to explore this part of sleepy Normandy.
Ideal for couples or families with young children and suitable for use throughout the year.
Accommodation:
Chestnut Cottage is one of three stone-built cottages in traditional Normandy style. It has two double and two twin-bed rooms, a family bathroom with bath, washbasin and wc, and a shower room with a multi-jet shower, washbasin and WC. The cottage has a spacious lounge with comfortable sofa and easy chairs, satellite tv to receive English Freeview channels, French free tv channels, a dvd/cd player and cd/hi-fi, a fully equipped kitchen with oven/hob, washing machine and dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer, and a dining room with seating for up to eight people. Internet access is provided, as of course is all bed linen and towels, though we do ask our guests to provide their own beach towels. No smoking in the accommodation please, and sorry, but no pets.
In each gite there is also a hairdryer, iron and ironing board and clothes airer. There is also a good selection of books and dvds and a large selection of literature regarding places of interest and leisure facilities in the area, as well as a selection of board games and childrens toys .
To complement the exceedingly high standard of internal accommodation, the cottage has its own patio area complete with bbq, dining table and chairs for eight people, two sun beds, and a large sun awning, and which opens out into an extensive fully enclosed garden. For our younger guests this features swings, a slide, and trampoline, and the delights of Aladdin's Cave, and for all generations we have an outdoor table tennis table, boules, badminton etc. The property is approached by a separate driveway, has ample enclosed parking, and is just as ideal for families with young children as it is for couples who want a little more space to enjoy this delightful area of Normandy.

Our nearest town is historic Carentan which is 10 km from Sainteny with several supermarkets, banks, shops, cinema, railway station (route to Paris) and a popular market held every Monday.
The Local area:
Our village of Sainteny has great facilities all within a few minutes walk.
At the centre of the village is the Bar / Tabac, Pharmacy (with English speaking pharmacists) and the beautiful St Pierre Church.
At the top of the village we have the Boulangerie / Patisserie, Boucherie / Charcuterie, Village Shop (including La Poste facilities), Restaurant / Bar, Hairdressers, Garage and a new Doctors surgery - all within walking distance from your accommodation.
About our region:

The city of Caen is only 1 hour away and has excellent shopping facilities as well as other historic places to visit.
Paris is only a two hour train ride away, making an interesting day out.
From Football to Fishing, Golf to Cycling, most, if not all sports activities are available within a short drive from the Gites.

Les Gtes Champtres are within easy easy driving distance from the ports of Cherbourg (45 mins), Caen / Ouistreham (1 hour) or Le Havre (2 hours)
If you prefer to fly, the nearest airports are Dinard (186km) and Rennes (200km).
