Description
At Chandler's Cottage we have created a comfortable and well equipped home from home suitable for couples, small groups or families. It's been awarded 4 stars by the AA in their self-catering accommodation grading scheme.
The light and airy living room features two comfortable sofas for relaxing in front of the wood burning stove (in the winter months we provide logs). For days when you want to unwind in the house we have provided a wide selection of books, games and puzzles suitable for most age groups. There's also an LCD Freeview TV and DVD player.
The living room is open to the kitchen dining area making it a light and sociable space.
The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering (although Sidmouth has a wealth of places to eat within easy walking distance!). The pine plank dining table seats four and looks out over the mature back garden.
To help newly arrived guests unwind after their journey we provide a welcome tray with coffee, tea, sugar and biscuits as well as fresh milk in the fridge.
Upstairs, the main bedroom is a comfortable double with a European 5 foot king-size bed (what Americans will know as a Queen). The second bedroom is a twin room which looks out over the back garden. Please note that due to the unusual shape of the room it is not possible to push the two single beds together to make a double.
We provide bed linen and all our duvets and pillows are non-allergenic.
The bathroom has all the essentials - a bath with an electric shower over it, a wash basin and w.c. and we provide bath and hand towels at no extra charge.
Instant hot water and central heating are provided by a combination boiler. Both bedrooms have radiators with thermostatic valves so that guests can control the room temperatures individually.
Outside, there's an outdoor dining area at the back of the house and a garden which features a variety of shrubs and trees and is mostly laid with gravel. At the front of the house there is a private paved off-road parking area for one car.

Location description
Sidmouth is an unspoilt seaside town in East Devon. It has a bustling town centre with a unique mixture of independent shops, galleries, pubs, cafes and restaurants alongside some of the more well-known chains. There is a cinema and theatre as well as parks, playgrounds, a golf course and a public swimming pool. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the esplanade with views out to sea and along the distinctive red Devon cliffs. It has two clean and safe pebble beaches which reveal firm sand and rock pools at low tide.
Sidmouth makes a great base for walkers - the South West Coastal path runs through it, there are countryside walks through local valleys and woodlands and it sits in a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. In fact, there are several walks that you can start from the doorstep so you may not need the car at all.

Tourist attractions
Sidmouth is on the South West Coast Path with walks along the dramatic Jurassic Coast line to the East and West.
The Donkey Sanctuary is free to visit and popular with families. It's home to over 500 donkeys, and there are walking trails, a nature centre, maze and a restaurant. There's a free hourly hopper bus from Sidmouth to the Sanctuary from the end of May until the end of September.
Otterton Mill is a working water mill and an arts and crafts centre. There's a cafe, restaurant and, of course, a bakery which produces fresh bread, cakes and scones seven days a week. On Thursday evenings the mill and restaurant are open for music nights (booking is essential).
Wild wood Escot is an outdoors centre with woodland trails, a large maze, letterboxing, a play barn, falconry displays, otters, a red squirrel reserve and, of course, a restaurant.
Bicton Park Botanical Gardens covers 60 acres with a mixture of formal gardens, open parklands and an arboretum and has it's own railway to help visitors get around (at an extra charge). There is a large outdoor play area as well as a play barn and nature trails.
Pecorama features beautifully designed gardens and Beer Heights Light Railway which has views down the valley to the sea. There is a crazy golf course and several play areas designed for different age groups. Indoor attractions include an exhibition of model railway layouts and a restaurant in a Pullman carriage, as well as a large cafe. The shop stocks a wide selection of Peco model railway products and is a must for enthusiasts.
Seaton Tramway runs alongside the river Axe so you can enjoy the beautiful Devon country side and even do a spot of bird watching. At the Colyton terminus there is a pleasant cafe in the old station building. It's a 5-10 minute walk into Colyton village where you can find local shops, tea rooms and a couple of pubs. Trams run regularly from Easter to October and then a limited service in the winter including a Halloween 'Tram of Terror' and Christmas trams including a visit to Santa.
Dartmoor National Park is within driving distance and makes a great day out.
