    Description

    'Le Jardin des Amis'is a small, privately owned gite complex (formerly a farm), comprising 5 self-catering properties and a large swimming pool - all set in 7 acres.

    'Gite' is the French term for a farm building renovated to form holiday accommodation. The former owners of 'Le Jardin des Amis' renovated these gites to give a modern facilities for different sized parties whilst retaining the many character features.

    'Chene Vert' is our middle sized (2 bedroom) cottage. From the front the cottage is entered via the veranda: a nice spot to sit with a morning cup of coffee, whilst the back door leads out onto the patio area and steps up to the pool. Here you will find a barbecue and furniture to sit and enjoy your evening meal.

    The ground floor of the cottage is open plan; the well equipped kitchen area also houses a dining table.

    The living area is delineated by the original stone flagged floor: other character features are the large fireplace with woodburning stove, exposed stone walls and oak beams.

    A spiral staircase leads up to the bathroom and two bedrooms (one twin / one double) both of which are set under sloping roofs with dormer windows. From the bedrooms there are views out over the property to the hills beyond. The beds all have good quality mattresses, pure cotton sheets, and duvets.

    At the front of the cottage is a large lawned garden area. To the rear of the cottage large banks of lavender and a honeysuckle-covered fence give privacy on the patio whilst a short flight of steps lead up to a gate to the landscaped pool area.

    The pool is fenced and alarmed for safety. It is kept sparkling, clean and clear through the use of a salt system which removes the need for adding chlorine: this results in water which is much kinder to eyes and skin! The pool side bar is an ideal venue for an aperatif and an opportunity to make new friends.

    Location description

    Meyrals is sandwiched between 2 rivers: the Dordogne and Vezere. A vast array of tourist sites can be found along both rivers: castles and picturesque bastide towns; caves with prehistoric paintings, amazing crystal formations or remains of troglodyditic living. The rivers offer opportunities for water sports, particularly canoeing. The wooded limestone hills give shady walks with an abundance of wild life and plants: the origins of many local gourmet delights!
