Description
Kintore cottage was built around 1830 as a lock keepers cottage for the Caledonian canal and has now been extended and upgraded top provide high quality self catering accommodation.
From the front of the cottage you can pass away the day watching the boats travel up and down the flight of Locks to and from Loch Ness or relax in the enclosed rear garden and enjoy a barbecue. The cottages central position within Fort Augustus make it easy to walk to the local shops, pubs, post office, and several eateries.
In the cooler evenings the wood burning stove will keep you cosy and warm and firewood is supplied free of charge, the stove also runs the central heating system.
The large dining kitchen is well equipped and leads you to the rear garden through a set of French doors where there is parking for 2 vehicles.

Location description
Kintore Self Catering Holiday cottage is situated in the village of Fort Augustus at the head of Loch Ness in the highlands of Scotland.
Fort Augustus is 32 miles from the highland capital city of Inverness and 32 miles from the town of Fort william on the west coast of Scotland.
Other activities
In the village you can find out all about the Caledonian Canal in the Heritage Centre whilst the Clansman Centre gives you an insight into life in the Scottish highlands over 500 years ago.
There are daily cruises on Loch Ness from Fort Augustus and there is also the new fast RIB trips to Urquhart Castle both of which leave a short walk from the cottage.
For golfers there is a lovely golf course and visitors are more than welcome, with green fees paid either daily or weekly.
If you take your bikes with you then you are in for a treat with some great cycle routes. The easiest being a trip along the canal side and the more energetic trails within the forestry. Something for all - big or small.
The rare breeds farm is worth a visit and you can see some unusual farm animals and birds.
Fishing in the highlands is magnificent with salmon and trout fishing on Loch Ness and the surrounding rivers and on the hill lochs. Sea fishing is also available only a short drive from the cottage. Details can be obtained locally regarding permits and tackle.
