    Description

    This pretty stone built holiday cottage was renovated in 2011 and sleeps 6/7 people. It stands on a hillside overlooking the village of Folques with spectacular views from the front terrace.

    The lounge has comfortable seating for 6 people including a sofa bed. There is a TV, CD/DVD player and some books and games. There are 3 double bedrooms 2 with a double bed and one with 2 single beds, all have wardrobes. There is a seperate shower room.

    The fully fitted kitchen is well equipped for self-catering and has a table and chairs for 6. The large sun terrace has a table and chairs for 6 for eating `al fresco` and a BBQ.

    There is a wood burner in the house for cooler winter months, logs are included in the price, and electric radiators for the bedrooms. Wi-fi broadband internet access is also available.

    The house is set on the hillsides of the Serra de Acors in Central Portugal in the small village of Bocado. There is a cafe/bar which serves foods on request in the village which is reached by a tarmacked road that stops here. The village is quiet and away from it all, if you are looking for a peaceful location this is it!

    Location description

    Central Portugal is easily accessible by good roads with fast toll motorways from both Lisbon and Porto. There are cheap flights from many cities into both Porto airport approx. 150kms away and Lisbon airport approx. 200kms away.

    Arganil is the main district town 7kms away where there are supermarkets, restaurants, bakers etc, a market is held here every Thursday. If you tire of just lazing in the sun then the river beaches along the Rio Alva are just a short drive away where you can swim in the clear, cool water, there is a popular river beach in the ancient market town of Coja 7kms away.

    Further afield you will find the university city of Coimbra, one of the oldest in Europe and once the capital of Portugal during the time of the Moors occupation. The city is on the banks of the Rio Mondego approx. 45kms from the holiday cottage and the ancient city centre has narrow cobbled streets that you can explore at your leisure.

    The Serra de Estrela is the highest mountain range in Portugal and is approx. 50kms drive away with snow here in the winter months and skiing on the slopes.

    Figueira de Foz is the nearest seaside town and is approx. 1 hrs drive from Bocado. The beach here is very wide with silver sands and there are some good fish restaurants in the town.
