Description of holiday villa in La Tranche sur Mer, Pays de la Loire

Les Pins du Phare Holiday Home is located only a short walk from the lovely beaches of La Tranche sur Mer. Ideally situated for family holidays, with a private pool and south facing garden, it is only a 10 minute walk to the bustling centre of this seaside resort town.

The villa sleeps up to 8 guests in 4 bedrooms and has a newly installed modern kitchen. There is a dining area in the living room and also a table & chairs on the covered patio in the garden for al fresco dining.

La Tranche is a fantastic location for water sports and outdoor activities, and has lots of entertainment for all the family throughout the summer - mostly within walking distance! There are many cycle paths and running tracks nearby, as well as picnic areas in thesurrounding pine forests.

The house has been tastefully decorated in readiness for 2011 and is contempory in style. There is an open plan ground floor leading out to the patio and pool area. There is also a second smaller lounge with TV and PS2 to keep the children amused.

The TV has UK and French channels and Wi-Fi access is available on the ground floor.

In the hallway there is plenty of storage and a separate WC.

3 of the bedrooms are on the first floor and each has an en-suite shower room with shower, hand basin and WC. There is a stair gate for the security of your children. The fourth bedroom, a double, is on the ground floor and would be suitable for guests with limited mobility. (It also has an en-suite shower room.)

In the basement there is a table tennis table and tents that can be used on the beach.

The washing machine is located in the basement as well.

There is a private off-road area for parking, along with space for a further 2 cars in front of the house.

In the rear garden you will find a 9m x 5m swimming pool (1.1m at the shallow end and 1.8m at the deep end). There is an alarm for the pool for the security of your children.

The covered patio area is a great place for al fresco dining and a charcoal barbecue is available for your use.

There is also a sand pit and sun loungers for relaxing. The garden is south facing and is not overlooked by other houses.

Deposit/Booking Notes: This villa is available to rent from April until the end of September on a short term basis, and outside of these dates on a longer term basis - please enquire for our long term rates.

Prices are per week and include all linens and towels, except beach towels.

In order to secure your booking we ask that you firstly check for availability, then complete the online Booking Form on our website & finally send a 30% non-refundable deposit for the total cost of the holiday.

A £200 Security deposit is required & this should be sent along with the final payment 8 weeks prior to the start of your holiday.

Cancellation prior to final payment will only incur the loss of deposit; cancellation with less than 8 weeks to go will incur full loss of payment if we are unable to rent out to gite to other people.

Payment can be made in Sterling or Euros either by cheque, direct bank transfer or PayPal transfer. (Please note that if paying by PayPal 3% will be added to your invoice to cover admin fees charged by PayPal.)

Location description

In summer, La Tranche comes alive! There is a twice weekly market selling lots of good local produce and often there are summer fayres and antique markets as well. The town has many restaurants, catering for all tastes and seafood is a great speciality - with oysters and mussels freshly landed each morning.

In the evenings, the town has lots of entertainment for all ages, ranging from music & dancing in the bars, to full-blown 'Summer Shows', as well as discos and lots of organised entertainment on the beaches.

The beach at Le Phare is only a short walk from the Villa and this is a great place for water sports - with surf schools, sailing, body boarding and kite surfing all close by. The villa is also near to the pine forests, with its many picnic areas and pathways.

Sea fishing boats leave La Tranche every morning and there is a ferry/site seeing boat that takes you from La Tranche to La Rochelle and Fort Boyard.

Other activities

The Southern Vendée is famous for its long sandy beaches, and Les Pins du Phare villa is situated only a short walk from a fabulous long beach - where you can relax and sunbathe, or surf and bodyboard. There are a wide variety of activities available on the beaches - with organised sports, evening entertainment, wind surfing and boat trips to nearby islands or sea fishing spots.

Local events

Every week in summer there is a large market in the centre of town and on most eveings there is a lot of entertainment laid on in the local streets, bars and restaurants.

Tourist attractions

There are two great theme parks, both with 1.5 hours drive from the villa. The Puy du Fou park is great fun for all the family - where you will see Vikings, Gladiators, Musketeers and Knights along with a fantastic evening show set around a picturesque lake with a Grande Finale of fireworks.
The other main theme park in the area is Futuroscope - where you can enjoy dancing dancing with robots, watching 3D movies or taking part in great simulator rides.

Directions

Both Nantes and La Rochelle Airport have flights from Budget Airlines - Ryanair, EasyJet, FlyBe. Car hire is available from both airports.

St Malo is only a 3.5 hour drive away, Cherbourg is 5 hours away, and Calais is 7.5 hours away.

A car is essential to get to this location, but once there, all amenities and the beaches are within walking distance.

The TGV now runs from Paris to either La Roche sur Yon or Les Sables D'Olonne - both only 45 minutes away.
