Description of holiday gite in Angles, Pays de la Loire

Gite des Forges is located in a quiet lane only 500 metres away from the centre of the pretty small town of Angles, near to the seaside resort of La Tranche sur Mer in the Vendee region of France.

The accommodation is laid out over one floor and benefits from a very sunny courtyard garden, complete with al fresco dining area and sun loungers for your use.

Inside, there is a living/kitchen area with sofa, large dining table and chairs and a fitted kitchen - with a built-in electric oven, induction hob, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster and coffee maker.

There are two bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other with 3 single beds, and along the corridor there is a shower room with hand basin, WC, shower cubicle and washing machine.

Pillows, duvets and bed spreads are provided, but please bring your own pillow cases, sheets and duvet covers, as well as towels.

Within the village there are many local shops (bakery, butchers, fish monger, florist, and supermarkets) as well as bars, restaurants and a weekly market selling lots of local produce.

The beaches are only a 10 minute drive away and you will be spoilt for choice in which one to visit - you can surf, relax, make sand castles, explore the rock pools or join in with some of the organised beach entertainments.

- The gite is available for longer lets during the off-season (October until April)
- A refundable breakages deposit of £100 required and will be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
- 30% of rental fee is due on booking to secure your stay.

Location description

Gites des Forges is set in a quiet lane in the pretty town of Angles in the southern Vendée, only 10 minutes from the beaches of La Tranche sur Mer. The area is famous for its good weather and summers are long and usually hot! The Vendée is the 2nd sunniest part of France after the Mediterranean.

The area is criss-crossed with canals and waterways and much of the land has been reclaimed from the sea over the centuries and there are many interesting tourist attractions to visit, including the Indian Adventure Park, The Chateau des Aventuriers with its treasure trail, the fantastic Puy du Fou theme park and the Marais Poitevin Regional Park.

The main attraction is the coastline - with miles of beaches, surrounded by pine forests with lots of picnic areas and cycle paths.

Other activities

There is a weekly market in Angles and throughout the summer months there are many festivals and fêtes held in the surrounding towns and villages.

Local events

La Tranche sur Mer is the nearest seaside town to the gite and here you will find plenty to entertain you - during the day and evenings. There are many ice cream parlours, souvenir shops and restaurants selling locally caught seafood. Musical evenings and organised events are often held throughout the summer months.

Gite des Forges is located in the town of Angles, which is approximately a 50-60 minute drive from La Rochelle Airport and 80 minutes from the airport at Nantes. Both airports are served by budget airlines such as Ryanair, FlyBe, EasyJet and Jet2.

Car hire is available at both airports.

If you are binging your own car with you, then St Malo is the closest of the northern ferry ports - at only 3.5 hours away. Caen is 4.5 hours away, Cherbourg is 5.5 hours away and Calais/ Euro Tunnel is 6.5 hours away.
