The Summer House, The Trincou Summer House at Chateau de Villars, Dordogne

The Trincou Summer House
 (1/16)

Description of holiday cottage in Villars, Aquitaine

The Trincou Summer House at Chateau de Villars stands adjacent to the Chateau de Villars and within its tranquil 9 acre grounds. You will drive into the Chateau's courtyard, entering down its allee of horse chestnut trees and into its gravelled courtyard, and can park next to the Summer House.

You will be greeted warmly on arrival by the English and French speaking Chateau owners (who run the Chateau as a Chambres d'Hotes) and no doubt also by the Chateau's corgis (sorry no other pets allowed!)

You have TWO bedrooms at your disposal in the Summer House - both named after rivers in the Dordogne and both looking out on the covered terrace which runs the length of the Summer House.

To the left of the living room is the Cole bedroom, which you enter through its reading room. Cole is decorated in blues and whites, with original photographs by Kevin Saunders, and furnished with a four poster queen size bed.

To the right of the living room is the Dronne bedroom with its king size bed (which can be divided into two single) beds, again with original photographs and decorated in shades of light brown and honeyed wood,

Each bedroom is light and airy, equipped with ceiling fans, and has its own recently renovated 'en suite' bathroom with shower and toilet, facing out over the fields and the Chateau's kitchen garden at the back of the Summer House. In each bedroom you have plenty of space for clothes, whether hanging space or chests of drawers, and after unpacking your suitcases can be stored in the walk in storage areas off the kitchen, so that you can feel completely at home without looking at them each day of your holiday! Each bedroom suite is, therefore, entirely private for you and the rest of your party.

There will be a WELCOME basket of wine, cheese and baguette ready for you on the kitchen table of the Summer House! And, by arrangement, the litchen can be stocked with provisions prior to your arrival, so that you don't have to go out shopping to the local grocery store on your first night, And you will want to cook in sometimes - you have a well equipped kitchen (oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave) at the Summer House, which is open plan to the living room - so the cook is never shut away from the rest of the party!

Then, after a stroll around the meadows of the Chateau, to take in your new surroundings (and perhaps a dip in the Chateau's heated pool), you will soon be sipping wine on the private 'post and beam' rustic covered terrace of the Summer House, looking out over the gardens, and be thinking about the splendid dinners you will enjoy during your stay at the outside dining table - whether cooked inside or on the outside BBQ..

After dinner, you can sit out under the Indian Bean Tree, which shades the Summer House, by the wood burning fire pit (welcome on any chilly night!) - listening to the slpash of water from the spring water running through the grounds nearby and marveling at the clarity of the night skies with its twinkling stars. Yes, from your first evening you will begin to completely relax - feeling immediately at home at the Summer House!

Your lap top computer will pick up the Chateau's wireless internet from the terrace - or if not use the guest computer in the owner's adjoining Carriage House - and from there you can also choose DVD's to watch from the Chateau's film library or music CD's to play - yes, you have a DVD and CD player in the living room of the Summer House for your entertainment.

Certain nights it's possible to eat an elegant four course dinner in the Chateau's dining room (by prior reservation) - and you might like to stop in for a cocktail one night in the Chateau's bar.

If you have questions about what to do, where to shop, where to eat, then hopefully the information left for you will answer most of that - but the owner's Bill Davies and Kevin Saunders, live on the property and are always around to help you with suggestions to ensure that your holiday is one of the best you've ever had!
