Château La Gontrie
Situated in a property of 11ha surrounded by the vineyards and the forest , Château la Gontrie means a peaceful holiday home near Bordeaux , less than 20 minutes drive.
There are 4 home vacation rentals ,self catering, and a swimming pool from which you can enjoy the views of the forest and the vines.
Le Pigeonnier
Separated from the main building , « le Pigeonnier », divides its ground floor between a lounge room (with a TV), and a combined kitchen dining room equipped with a dish washer, washing machine, stove, oven, coffee machine, electric kettle and microwave; a room with a double bed, a room with a single bed . Each room is equipped with an en suite shower and toilet.

Private garden, separated by a hedge with a view of the forest, and garden table and chairs with a barbecue for the summer.

In event of a cancellation, the bond will be returned, but all other payments will be forfeited unless other tenants are found for the same period, and the same price.
We do advise you to buy a holiday insurance for last minute cancellation.

Location description
Château La Gontrie is located in the middle of the wine region known as the “Premières Côtes de Bordeaux”, on the right bank of the Garonne river.The area offers multiple possibilities for sightseeing and entertainment, all within thirty minutes to two hours drive : Bordeaux, France’s most beautiful regional city.
Other activities
We give a wine tasting and tour to our guest , the day after arrival. We also provide you with all the tourist information.Bordeaux is a fascinating city wich has recently been classed by Unesco, there is plenty of sight seeing and tours available.
We can organize with our local Patissier cooking classes if that is in your interests or if you like horse ridding there is also a guide tour of half a day to a day which can be organized.
Local events
We have a big Market on wednesday in a town 10km from Saint Caprais which is worth a visit. If you arrive on the first sunday of the month Bordeaux closes the city to traffic and you rent out for free bicycles to visit the town.The Bordeaux appellations organise open days with free visit and free wine tasting along the year.
Tourist attractions
Guided tours are available in English and the Maison du Vin offers wine tasting initiations.France’s prime wine producing area. This includes the regions of Pomerol, St Emilion, Sauterne, Graves, and the Medoc – visit the châteaux and taste the wine. The town of Cognac is little more than a one hour drive away.
Historic sites to visit include: the medieval village of St Macaire; the beautiful châteaux in Cadillac; Roquetaillade; or Labrède, the home of the great writer/philosopher Montesquieu.
The ocean with its beaches, such as Lacanau. Here one can surf, swim or just enjoy the sound of the waves.
The Arcachon basin with its yachts, restaurants and famous oyster beds.
Pyla, the biggest sand dune in Europe – 110 metres high.
Four of the biggest fresh water lakes in France where you can swim or rent a boat.
The Landes, the biggest forest in Europe stretching from Bordeaux almost to the Spanish border.
Aqualand, a fun park with a wide range of water games and activities.
The La Palmyre Zoo, one of the most attractive zoos in France.
Dordogne and Perigord : 2 hours drive from the main sites.
