Matlock Bath Illuminations & Venetian Nights, Matlock, England

Matlock Bath Illuminations is a fun-packed family event featuring a spectacular parade of illuminated and decorated boats on the River Derwent on weekends in September and October (10 September - 29 October 2016). Each model is adorned with thousands of pea lights, powered by lorry batteries, and are made by the Matlock Bath Venetian Boat Builders' Association. The decorated models are mounted on rowing boats and then paraded each Saturday and Sunday on the River Derwent between the landing stage and the New Bridge. As darkness falls the boats disappear into the blackness below, leaving the models apparently gliding along just above the water. The event also features dazzling firework displays on each Saturday evening.
