    Wigtown Book Festival, Wigtown, Scotland

    22nd September - 1st October

    Wigtown Book Festival

Held in the traditional market town of Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town, surrounded by the beautiful countryside of Dumfries & Galloway, south-west Scotland. Founded in 1999, the 10-day Wigtown Book Festival is now one of the UK's best-loved literary events and this year has more than 200 events and activities for all ages, including music, theatre, food and visual arts. The Guardian has called it "the sort of festival people become possessive about".

The festival, which has won several awards, welcomes writers from far and wide. It also celebrates the rich history and landscape of Galloway. In 2007, Wigtown Book Festival became a charity. It is run by a small professional staff assisted by more than 100 volunteers.

Event kindly supplied by Lynsay Bradford, owner of Property 10900, Country cottage in Whithorn, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
