Regularly from May to September in Sliema

    Local 'festas'

The 'festa' is one of the most important events in the Maltese calendar. At one time the 'festa' was a religious event, but nowadays is simply an excuse for a village celebration with big bands, fireworks and processions. The local Church will also join in with the celebrations and are brilliantly elluminated with hundreds of lights. Accompanied by the brass band, the statue of the village patron saint is paraded through the streets. Vendors sell all sorts of food, including pastizzi and many other local dishes.
