Description
La Bergerie Provençale is set amidst the villages, vineyards and orchards of Provence’s renowned Luberon national park.
Originally a 200 year old stone ‘Bergerie’ or shepherds house, the property has been extended and renovated to create a stunning and luxury villa within one hectare of gated private gardens with a very large 6×12 meter heated swimming pool.
Approached along a tree-lined drive, the house is situated in the beautiful countryside of the Luberon and is surrounded on all sides by vineyards, farmland and woodland with beautiful uninterrupted views of the village of Roussillon, one of France’s acclaimed ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’.
Located in the very heart of the Luberon valley, the house is within easy driving distance of the areas most famous hilltop ‘perched’ villages, markets and restaurants including Gordes, Menerbes, Lacoste, Bonnieux with the local village of Roussillon only 3 minutes drive away.
The medieval village of Roussillon hides a picturesque maze of streets and squares, full of charming restaurants and art galleries. If you walk to the top of the village you will see wonderful panoramic views across the valley to the Grand Luberon, the slopes of Mont Ventoux and the plateau of the Vaucluse.
The House has been designed to be a very comfortable and stylish home away from home. When you arrive you will be greeted by our English, French and German speaking house manager who will introduce to the house and its facilities.
There are four large double bedrooms opening out onto the shaded terrace overlooking the pool. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with baths and separate showers. The third and fourth bedrooms share a third separate bathroom equipped with bath and shower.
The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, American fridge freezer, oven and microwave. A spacious separate utility room comes equipped with washing machine and drying area.
The house is naturally cool in summer and has under-floor heating and a large open fireplace in the living room for the cooler months.
The lounge has a large LCD television and DVD player with a wide range of satellite channels including all of the UK freeview channels including the childrens channels. Guests are welcome to use the iPod compatible sound dock and wireless broadband internet access.
Linen, towels and pool towels are included together with a cleaning service on departure.
Outside the gardens extend to one and a half hectares and contain a mixture of lawns, oak woodland and orchards.
The heated south facing 6x12m swimming pool is reached by winding stone paths and is surrounded by a lawned area ideal for sunbathing. The pool is accessed by a security gate and is fitted with the latest automatic cover to ensure the safety of your family.
The comfortable Sun Loungers and lavish outdoor L-shaped sofa are ideal for relaxing by the pool.
Directly next to the pool terrace is the outdoor summer kitchen, this is equipped with a large BBQ and covered seating area. Another outside dining area is located in a grove of oak trees under a vine covered pergola.
Whether you intend on relaxing on the hammock, reading a book under the shade of a tree or whiling away the afternoon playing Boules we are sure you will find the garden the perfect place to unwind!

Location description
The Luberon region of Provence is famous for its outstanding natural beauty, lavender fields, limestone hills, olive groves, forested valleys, vineyards and slow pace of life.
The area is renowned for its perched medieval villages many of which have been awarded ‘Most Beautiful village in France’. Gordes, Bonnieux, Lourmarin, Lacoste and Menerbes (featured in Peter Mayle’s ‘Year in Provence’) are all within a 10-20 minutes drive of the house.
The Luberon valley lies between the mountain ranges of the Luberon and the Vaucluse. The valley is made up of a patchwork of small farms, vineyards and woodland and is an ideal area to enjoy the beautiful countryside of Provence either by bicycle on foot or on horseback.
There is a market almost everyday of the week in the Luberon. Two of the largest in Provence are held in Isle sur la Sorgue and Carpentras. Known as “Little Venice”, Isle sur la Sorgue’s Provencal market on Sunday morning includes over 300 antique dealers, whilst the large and diverse market at Carpentras has earned the ranking of “Outstanding Market Town”.
The Luberon is considered to be the heart of Provence and the house is a perfect base to explore further afield. The main Provencal towns of Avignon, Aix en provence, Orange and Arles all within an hours drive. If you take the meandering roads that head north out of the valley you will discover the ‘Haute Provence’ or High Provence. Here you will find mile upon mile of lavender fields, small farmsteds and eventually Mont Ventoux.
The closest beaches are located an hour’s drive away at Cassis or St Cyr sur Mer both of which have fine sandy beaches and numerous restaurants. The French Riviera is only two hours away, making the beaches of Cannes and St Tropez a great day out!
