Description
Villa Rosa is a spacious comfortable villa, surrounded by a well maintained mature garden, just 200m from the sea. The private pool is solar heated, and prior to your arrival the water temperature will be boosted via the gas boiler, and this warmer water should maintain for your stay. If you would like a warmer pool, this option is available too, at a reasonable cost.
The sea views towards Sea Caves and also to Coral Bay are outstanding from the large upstairs terraces.
The house is fully air conditioned and the 3 bedrooms all have ceiling fans. As with all our villas there is Wi-Fi for you to keep in touch with the outside world. The large LCD TV is connected to a Triotech media streamer Android box for International channels which include BBC and ITV. You can also stream Russian, German and French channels. Films are also available.
The covered verandah with BBQ overlooking the pool is an excellent and much enjoyed feature, as it has a practical roll down blind at one end, which cuts the wind out. As a result, this area can be used for eating outside until the end of October. Whether you prefer full sun or shade, the poolside offers a variety of positions for the sun loungers, lots of areas with full sun and also a designated shaded area. Even though there are other villas around, the pool feels quite secluded, due to the mature shrubs and trees.
Villa Rosa is perfect for couples and families who want to enjoy a semi-rural villa accessible for touring Western Cyprus, as you are 5 minutes’ drive from the wild Akamas National Park and undeveloped Lara Bay, and 10 minutes from Peyia village Corallia Beach and the nightlife and beach at Coral Bay. The beautiful sea caves area is in front, Coral Bay and Corallia blue flag sandy beaches are to the left, and the wild Akamas National Park is to the right. There is easy access to Paphos Town, just follow the coast road for 30 minutes. Historic Paphos is an interesting mix of old and new, and it offers excellent shopping and nightlife. A good day to visit Paphos is Wednesday, as the local fresh fruit and vegetables are offered for sale by the local villagers. You have easy access to the short cut to Latchi and undeveloped Chrysochou Bay at Polis via the E709, about 30 minutes’ drive with beautiful scenery. Don’t miss it.
The rugged Sea Caves coastline and its pretty coves, and Sundance Villas favourite Sea Caves Tavern are within walking distance, and George’s Ranch for horse riding is close by. It is possible to get about without a car as there is a bus stop on the main road and the looping route takes you to Coral Bay, Peyia and Agios Georgios of Peyia (Akamas). Location description
Staying in this area means you are never far from anywhere of interest, and you will get the opportunity to see the banana plantations and avocado orchards. The 2 Blue Flag beaches in Coral Bay, the Akamas National Park and its beautiful Lara Bay, the nightlife of the Coral Bay Strip, restaurants and bars in Peyia Town and the excellent shops, bars and taverns in Paphos are all within easy driving distance.
The Coral Bay strip offers a wide selection of bars, restaurants and shops, including clients favourite Samisen, a lively Japanese where the chef cooks in front of you and entertains you at the same time. By contrast, simple Peyia Tavern at the top of the hill in Peyia, one of the original taverns there, is a clients’ favourite, especially for a meze on the terrace (must book for terrace), with the ancient church opposite, which looks stunning at night. Papantoniou bakery halfway up the hill offers a good selection of breads, some seeded, and lovely Cypriot cakes including Sundance Villas favourite sesame paste flat cake pronounced “tashinobitta”, amazing when still warm, (if you have a sweet tooth like me).
If you go straight towards the sea you will arrive at the Sea Caves area which is extremely pretty, rural and protected from development. A narrow lane winds down to the pretty coastline, and there are a handful of bars and taverns right next to the sea, including Oniro by the Sea next to the shipwreck (towards Coral Bay) and family friendly Sea Caves tavern. Both wonderful at sunset. The Sea Caves tavern has a good play area for children and lots of grass for them to run around.
A short drive further brings you to the beautiful safe sandy Corallia Coral Bay beach and further towards Paphos is the bigger Coral Bay main beach, which has decking, sun loungers and umbrellas. Both these beaches have shallow entry, usually very calm and warm, and no (or very few) stones. Lara Bay is worth a visit as it is within the Akamas National Park, so undeveloped with no facilities. There are 2 good taverns here, Agios Georgios Fish Tavern in the square before, and further on via the start of the Akamas track, up on the hillside and worth finding, Viklari (BBQ meat and salad). Fantastic views from both.
This is where you will find the sandy beach at Agios Georgios harbour and an interesting archaeological site, usually “guarded” by Filip, (our Villa Filip owner), and the beautiful Agios Georgios church.
George’s Ranch nearby gets great reviews for horse riding.
If you have children with you then Paphos Zoo is 2km and for just 10 Euro for a family you can feed the giraffes from a platform, pre book and go early when they are still hungry. Take the camera! Children love the parrot show too. Use your Sundance Villas discount voucher.
Paphos Town, with its daily fruit and craft market and interesting shops, is approximately 30 minutes’ drive. It is full of history and the Mosaics and harbour should not be missed. For clients with young children 2 Paphos hotels have mini water parks open at low cost to non-residents, and they are much closer than the Paphos Water Park, see my Blog.
The E709 nearby is worth finding as it is an excellent shortcut to Latchi and Polis, spectacular scenery en route.
