Peaceful secluded location, overlooking Truffle Forests, River Valley, Mountain, Rolling Hills and Venetian-built Hilltop Towns. Relax on a lounger by the pool, sit by the BBQ in the lavender-scented garden, or upstairs on the terracotta-tiled terrace overlooking exceptional scenery, which is often likened to Tuscany.
The whole house, garden and pool is for your sole use. You do not share any facility with anyone else.

Our villa is located in the heart of the wine and olive oil producing area and you can visit the 'Olive Oil and Wine Roads' and sample the local produce at the many vineyards and olive oil producers.
Award-winning restaurants, namely 'Zigante', 'Toklarija' and many more, serve truffle dishes daily in the nearby towns and villages, in fact other family restaurants do too, at much more affordable prices than at home. We will recommend our favourites to you.
The villa is ideally located for day trips out to the coast - both east and west - taking approx 30 mins in either direction. You will find convenient places to swim in the Adriatic Sea, and maybe you could try some of the excellent freshly-caught fish in the numerous restaurants.
You will find the roads in inland Istria quiet even in high season, and it is delightful to drive up and down the small local roads exploring the numerous tiny Italianesque hamlets and villages and admire the views. The churches have campaniles very much in the Italian style; in fact this area was once part of Italy. Older tiny chapels are dotted around the countryside, some with frescoes painted by medieval monks and can be visited.
The ancient UNESCO Basilica at Porec is really worth a visit, Pula too, with the Roman Arena and Forum, amongst other places of interest.
You can take a day trip by catamaran to Venice, which is directly opposite across the Adriatic Sea. Visit Venezialines.com

Location description
The villa is in Istria, a triangular-shaped peninsula that juts out into the northern Adriatic sea, and is just across the Adriatic from Venice. Not far from the borders with Italy and Slovenia, the area has a strong Italian feel to it, with the associated gastronomy and wine culture. Many people speak Italian alongside Croatian.
The villa is in a rural location that bears a similarity to Tuscany. The rolling countryside with neat rows of vines and olive trees boasts many ancient Venetian-built hilltop towns with charming campaniles that are a delight to visit.
Other activities
The villa's peaceful location means you can relax by the pool and do nothing, if you choose. However, there is plenty to do, exploring and sightseeing, also visiting the excellent restaurants, if you fancy a drive out in the countryside or to both coasts, east & west.
If you fancy an active holiday, there are various options. At the coasts, there are lovely natural pine tree lined beaches, where you can swim in the Adriatic sea. There are walking/trekking trails, horseriding ranches, and Buzet, the centre for paragliding at the Cicarija mountains, is a 20 min drive.
If you fancy a bit of pampering, Istria's Thermal Spa is a 15 minute drive. Istarske Toplice.
Local events
Several times a year, Livade, a small valley town visible from the villa, holds Truffle Fairs, where you can taste and buy Truffles, local wines, olive oils and other local produce. The larger town of Buzet is named 'City of Truffles' and holds many Truffle events, 20 mins drive.
Motovun holds the Motovun Film Festival in July every year.

Car hire, or your own transport, is essential. We strongly recommend you book your car hire well in advance.
Ryanair and Thomson fly into Pula, also Ryanair into Rijeka, and Trieste in Italy. We will provide you with a local route to the villa.
