    Description

Villa Eleonorae has an incredible view and being on the south west side of the island it gets the sun from the morning until dusk.

This is a comfortable home from home, creating a holiday vibe in a wonderful setting. It is modern, yet in keeping with the local design.

You will find all that you want here including bedlinen and fluffy towels from the White company and lots of other home furnishings set out too create a sumptuous holiday atmosphere.

The villa is named after the falcons that swoop over it, situated in gorgeous countryside near the picturesque hill village of Glossa. Its secluded location feels private, despite its proximity to the beaches, the port, the Mamma Mia church and the village itself, and the villa is not overlooked by anything.

The mesmerizing panoramic view takes in the islands of Evia, Skiathos and the Pelion and away to the mainland, as far as Mt Parnassus and closer to home down to the village of Glossa and its port of Loutraki.

The villa itself is built by hand in the traditional style of the island, with vaulted open-beamed ceilings of local chestnut and pine, wooden balconies and tiled roofs, complemented by a modern clean touch and up-to-date fittings and equipment.

The main bedroom has a super king size double bed and an en-suite bathroom. The view through double doors looks out over the garden and beyond over the Aegean Sea. The terrace outside leads to the garden and there are seats and a table there offering another place to relax. This light and airy room is decorated with paintings and it has a painted wooden ceiling. There is a full length mirror and plenty of storage space for clothes and suitcases.

All the sheets, large pillows and towels are from the White Company.
    Bathing towels are also provided.

For the hot season there is air conditioning.

The second bedroom has a double door styled on the traditional island design. It has two single beds that can be adjoined to make a super king size bed. It is colourful, light and airy with a painted wooden ceiling.

This bedroom also shares a similar view to the main bedroom and also has double doors leading out to a terrace with a great view to wake up to. The wardrobe is has ample space and there is also a full length mirror and air conditioning.

Both bathrooms have good showers with marble finishes, toilets and basins set in teak. Complete with White company towels, soap and heated towel rails.

Well appointed, airy kitchen and living area with views to the swimming pool and the sea. It has access to the extensive covered veranda and yard. The equipment includes electric cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, hard wood work surfaces, double sink & good quality utensils.

The living is on the 1st floor, and opens up to the extensive balcony. Open plan, with an attractive open wooden ceiling, it is well appointed with a fireplace, wifi, DVD/stereo system. Comfortable furnishings and rugs. It opens onto the veranda at the front of the house and the yard at the rear.

The utility room is located downstairs and home to the heating system, washing machines, freezer, cool boxes, ironing board, drying rack and first aid cabinet.

There are lots of outside spaces to choose from whether it is for sunbathing or for shade. Outside the house has been specifically designed to offer guests the maximum benefit of outdoor living, complete with the outside kitchen and BBQ/rotisserie big enough for a goat!

The private swimming pool measures 8x4m and looks out over the bay. It is located at the side of the villa on a split level. It has steps leading into it and a shallow and deep end. There are five wooden sun beds, low tables, umbrellas and a large cushioned bench. There is an outside shower and an orange tree at the far end of this area and next to it stone steps that lead up to the terrace above. The pool area is enclosed tastefully by railings, with a latched gate to restrict access by underage children. The property extends to 7355 square meters and is set out in terraces, gardens and trees, so providing guests with privacy and space.

The hard wood veranda runs along two sides of the villa and faces south west. The front veranda measures 3m wide x 9m long it provides a perfect space to entertain and dine alfresco whilst taking in the stunning view over Loutraki harbour and the bay beyond. The barbecue area has a fridge, sink and a large user friendly barbecue that also has an electric rotisserie. So whether its a few sardines or a whole goat and three chickens on the menu this set up will deliver.

The yard at the rear of the villa is next to the barbecue. This is the main entrance to the villa from the car park area. Large double doors open onto this area with its shaded pergola and dining area that allow for a cool and relaxed dining alternative when the sun is at its zenith. Sitting here with the citrus trees, jasmine lots of Jasmine is a wonderful experience.

The large wooden veranda is reached through the double doors from the living area. It also leads around the side of the house to the barbecue area and the dining area in the yard at the rear of the villa. Here there are plenty of places to sit and relax.

All linen, house towels and bathing/beach towels are included.
The property is cleaned once a week, more if required for a small additional charge.
The pool is maintained every two to three days to ensure that it is in good condition.

Barbecue, Private Pool, ample Parking, large garden set on ancient stone terraced vineyard with a wide variety of herbs, shrubs and trees.

Due to the situation of the property on the apex of a hill, and the steep slopes around the house, it is not suitable for wheelchair users, or indeed people with mobility difficulties. There are stairs inside and outside as it is a two storey villa. This is worth taking in to consideration if you are not accustomed to stairs.

Car hire is necessary in order to get around and to explore. I can recommend a local car hire family run company which will deliver the car to the port of your arrival and collect from your departure port.

    Location description

The villa faces south west, is at 304 meters above sea level.
It is private yet close to the local village Glssa where there are tavernas, shops, an atm etc.

Skopelos lies in the west of the Aegean Sea and is part of the Northern Sporades Islands. It boasts a beautiful 67km coastline. Skopelos covers a vast distance of 96 km sq. 80% of this is covered in forestry, with the main tree being Aleppo Pine (pinus halepensis), Holm oaks, olive trees, chestnut trees, walnut trees, pear trees, plum trees, cherry trees and citrus trees also thrive here. The Island has two mountains, the highest being Delphi (680m) and then Palouki (566m) both can be walked up to enjoy a spectacular view at the summit! The main inhabited areas are the capital, Skopelos, Panormos, Elios, Glossa and Loutraki, which all welcome visitors with their traditional tavernas serving local delicacies!

    How to get there
Visitors to the island generally fly into neighbouring Skiathos, there are plenty of charter flights to Skiathos from May to October. A five minute taxi from the airport will take you to the ferry/hydrofoil ticket office, which offers regular ferry/hydrofoil connections to Loutraki and takes no more than 30/20 minutes. The house is located fifteen minutes by car from Loutraki harbour where you will be met and brought to the villa. Car hire that will deliver and collect is recommended and can be organised prior to arrival.

Glossa (nearest village) - 5 minutes. Loutraki (village and beaches) - 15 minutes. Skopelos (principal town) - 45 minutes.

The two local villages Glossa and Loutraki offer a wide range of amenities such as restaurants, bars, shops, bakeries, chemists and banks. Glossa has a good tourist information centre. The nearest medical centre is in Skopelos. Both Glossa and Loutraki offer excellent local colour in the form of restaurants and tavernas. For those seeking the bright lights, Skopelos offers a vibrant night life.

    Other activities

Diving, stand up paddle boarding, walking, watersports, sailing, sightseeing and mountain biking.

    Local events

Skopelos dance festival, sea food festival, religious events.

    Tourist attractions

Ag.Ioannis the famous Mamma Mia church. This is despite being made famous by the Mamma Mia film is an incredible location and place to visit. there is also a good beach there. though during the high season there are quieter beaches if thats what you prefer. Other attractions include the beaches go course, monasteries, walking tours and paths to follow. There is a lovely view from the pirate graves, this is definitely worth visiting. there are also some Roman ruins to see.

    Directions

During the season there are direct flights to Skiathos airport (JSI). Alternatively one can fly to Athens and then take a connecting flight up to Skiathos. I find Skyscanner very helpful. There is also an airport at Thessalonniki and during the summer there is a boat from here to Skopelos town which is 25km from. the villa.

Once at Skiathos the taxi to the port of Skiathos takes five minutes and costs around ten euro.

The ferry costs about ten euro each, less for the kids possibly. It takes about twenty five minutes to get to the port of Glossa on Skópelos this is the first port.
There is also a water taxi which is very efficient and usefull especially if the ferry times don't suit, here is the link https://seacab.gr/

For car hire I recommend using Magic cars here is their email [email protected]

They will deliver and collect the car. You will also be met by the person looking after my villa at Glossa port and they will show you around the villa.

    The best villa ever…!

Shane’s villa was a 10/10 experience! The views were absolutely stunning and I used this location to propose to my girlfriend. The poolside proposal was a huge success and gave us incredible photos! We stayed for a week and could have stayed for a month. The location was great, close to Glossa village and nearby supermarkets. It is peaceful but close enough to everything on the island by car if you want to enjoy the vibrant restaurants and beach life. The drive up to the villa is steep and narrow towards the top, but after the first time heading up it, it was a breeze! It is worth it for the view and tranquillity at the top.

The villa provided everything we needed including a BBQ, a beautiful clean 8x4 pool, a fantastic veranda to sit and have drinks on and watch the sunset. The main bedroom was spacious and comfortable and had much needed air con!

Shane was extremely helpful throughout the whole process of renting the villa, booking the hire car and of course in our case recommending a fantastic proposal photographer! His colleagues Eleni and Anthoula were attentive and easily contactable in case of any questions.

It is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places we have ever been to and hope to return very soon! If you’re thinking of a proposal or special occasion in Greece there is no better place!

P.S feed the family of cats! As animals lovers we were thrilled to meet a mother cat and her kittens, and we put food out for them. They politely waited by the door for us on the last couple of nights before going for a snooze under a lounger.

Outstanding villa with a fantastic view

    June 2022

The villa is absolutely fantastic, not visible above Glossa! It is superbly equipped with many loungers and seating options, in the sun as well as in the shade. Bathrooms and bedrooms are beautifully designed and the kitchen offers enough space for cooking and preparing. The views from the terrace, bedroom and pool can't be beat. From noon is sun until sunset.
The approach is steep, but can be mastered with any car.
On-site support from Eleni is wonderful and absolutely uncomplicated. The same goes for communicating with Shane. Very accommodating and polite!
Thank you Shane and Eleni. We had a fantastic time and already miss the villa!!!

This home has undoubtedly the best view on the island. We spent every evening watching amazing sunsets across Skiathos and to mainland Greece. Great pool and outside shower. BBQ with all the kit. Lovely boho feel to the villa with hammocks and comfy outside sofas and inside beds! If you want seclusion but a short drive to Glossa, stunning views and total relaxation, this place is fabulous.

The House of Shane overlooks the Port De Glossa, tutoie Skiathos and the sky of the sporades.
To this must be added a house of character very well renovated in an authentic taste of the island With all the comforts necessary.
The situation of the house surrounded by vegetation on the stone terraces is magical.
The pool is suitable for beginner swimmers and the climb is (Website hidden by Airbnb) need for 4x4..
Anthoula who relays Shane on the spot is full of dynamism, helpful and attentive.

A lovely private villa in a beautiful location with spectacular views and surrounding gardens. The house is not over-looked and it is very well designed to enjoy its elevated position: the verandah, hammocks and pool are positioned to relax and enjoy the far reaching views of Glossa, the sea and distant islands. Lots of lovely outside areas to sit, eat, escape the heat and relax. The showers are excellent, the beds are very comfortable with good quality linen and towels also the bedrooms remain relatively cooler than the rest of the house which really aided good sleep. We slept very deeply. Shane recommends a Jeep and you do need it for the steep single track roads. We highly recommend this property if you like peace and quiet and being in a rural location. However you can walk to and from Glossa it doesn't take too long. There is far more space around the villa than shown in the photos. Being on a hill meant lots of steps, stairs but worth it for the views.
