    Description

    With uninterrupted views across the olive groves to the village of Gavalohori, and beyond to the sea and mountains, this is an ideal place for a private, quiet, get away from it all holiday for up to 5 people.

    The accommodation is all on a single level with large open plan lounge and dining area with an arch to a spacious kitchen with all the features you could want (and more). There is a primary bedroom with king-sized orthopaedic bed and fully tiled en-suite shower room, a family bedroom with both a double bed and a single and large shower room between the two, with large glass panelled walk-in shower and contemporary tiling. There is and a separate utility area with washing machine. All beds have bespoke mattress toppers.

    Outside there is a large shady covered terrace which is ideal for dining and there are stone terraces and gardens all round the property and stone walls arches, Mediterranean trees and exotic shrubs and Greek urns add to the ambiance as well as ensuring privacy. There is a stone built BBQ and pizza oven, numerous outside tables and chairs and plenty of sunbeds for relaxation.

    The mosaic tiled pool uniquely wraps around the building and is heated all year round by energy-efficient solar heating, at no cost to the guests. It is entered by a set of gentle non-slip steps from the terrace by passing through a Cretan stone arch, which reflects wonderfully and at night is delicately lit by LED lighting. There is a pool "robot" ionising system to clean the water with minimal use of chemicals so there is no chlorine smell when in the water and its much kinder on your skin, plus the kitchen has a plumbed-in water filter for great tasting drinking water.

    The villa is quiet and above the village, so has superb views, but with all the village facilities just a gentle stroll away.

    Inside there is a 40' LCD TV, , DVD player (and ~50 feature films), hi-fi system, Wii games console plus inclusive unlimited wi-fi and a phone. There is a also an Amazon Firestick providing TV streaming services and an Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker.

    There is a gated gravel drive with parking for 2 cars and the views from the pool terrace are, though we say it ourselves, quite spectacular. You don't want to miss the sunsets!

    Location description

    Set just above the traditional Cretan village of Gavalohori, Villa Mia is just a few minutes gentle stroll from the bakery, shops and tavernas in the village yet is on a quiet lane with spectacular views to the White Mountains and over the olive and orange groves to the sea. From the pool terrace you can see Turkish and pre-Roman remains and watch the daily ferry boats meander from Souda Bay towards Athens.

    The nearest (blue flag) beach at Almyrida is just 7 minutes drive away and there are numerous other sandy coves or longer beaches nearby including ones ideal for snorkelling.

    Chania airport is a pleasant 45 minute drive away across Souda Bay and the island's other international airport is about 90 minutes in the opposite direction.

    Relaxing, walking, scuba diving, horse riding on the beach, sailing and kayaking. Segway tours in nearby Chania are a must!
