Description
Chateau des Egrons is an elegant and historic 15th Century place which dates back to Roman times and has been lovingly restored as a luxurious and well equipped home with modern facilities. It is surrounded by the rolling hills of SW France with vineyards, villages and entertainment.
A championship golf course and all the water sports of the river Dordogne are a short 15 minute drive away, and private tennis and a splendid heated pool are in the grounds.
The Chateau has lots of large rooms with high ceilings where family and friends can meet and play together, but also have their own private and elegant space when needed. The ambiance, space and charm is difficult to describe but those who visit frequently return. The 6 reception rooms, five bedrooms and huge kitchen and pantry are all at ground level.
The front courtyard and rear terrace are wonderful places to sit, eat and drink; watch the sunset, the stars or just admire the wonderful rolling views of the countryside. The Chateau website will give you a sense of this www.chateaudesegrons.co.uk
The owner is a well know London cooking teacher who can, if arranged, also set up a teaching session and trips to the local markets. Food and drink feature high on the agenda at the Chateau as do sport and entertainment!

Hi Jim,
thought Id email to let you know that we had an amazing family holiday at Chateau des Egrons.
Weve had various family/friends holidays in villas etc in europe but in comparison everything at des Egrons was just perfect & exceeded our expectations. The chateau is wonderful & the setting is breath taking with the beautiful sunsets. Importantly, we felt very welcome & comfortable there. The pool & tennis courts were excellent & the table tennis was competitive ! Jayne was very efficient in sorting a cot out for our granddaughter.
Two of our sons are great wine enthusiasts & they had a great time at St Emilion as well as exploring local vineyards & meeting with owners. Our middle son got engaged during our holiday on a trip to Bordeaux. Everybody had a wonderfully relaxing & comfortable stay.
We have spent a lot of time in France & Italy over the last 25 years both in summer & winter but latterly have visited Italy much more. However, I think its safe to say that Ive fallen in love with France again & in particular, Perigord - again !
I very much hope to be able to stay at the beautiful Chateau des Egrons again. Thanks for all your help & advice prior to our stay.
