Description
Welcome to an un-crowded holiday in Turkey. Yesil Ev is a group of three stone cottages, rebuilt by an English owner, with furniture and fittings made by local craftsmen. If you set aside the obvious truth that you need a plane and taxi to get there, then this is as sustainable, low-impact a holiday as you can find - the future, surely, for Mediterranean tourism.
You will be absorbed into the on going rural life. Sogut's small harbour-front restaurants show no menu; they offer whatever's in glut, and take your orders the night before. There is boat hire from ''resting'' fishermen, who can take you to the bays of your choice around the coast.
This is village life, but not as you know it. First the 5.15 am alarm - the meuzzin's call to the faithful. His stern commands echoed down the valley in the still, warm air, reaching all bedrooms. This usually sets off the donkeys, which pass their bray along like an aural Mexican wave.
Next the 6.15 call; this is the local bus to Marmaris, an essential service in this virtually car-free village. By the time it reaches you the bus will no doubt be bulging with bleary villagers. What a racket? Heavens, no, but you will rely on it. Coffee on the veranda as dawn creeps creamily down the valley, and the neighbours cows lollop up the hill to graze, is the very finest thing.

Location description
Sogut is a rural coastal village where time seems to have stood still.
Yesil Ev is in Kizilyer Sogut, an area of small farms where locals go about their daily lives as they have done for the last 50 years.
The beaches around the bay are perfect spots to relax with a good book and the various platforms and jetties which lead off the beach are ideal to jump from into the water for a cooling dip.
There are also beautiful historical sights you can easily visit, an example of one of these is Taslica.
Taslica is the last village on the Bozburun Paninsula and enjoys fantastic panoramic views of the sea that surround the village on three sides, and scattered over the hills are the ruins of older settlements including the ruins of the city of Pheonix, and the ancient Carian settlement.
