Amari Villa is a stunning 5 bedroom luxury holiday villa just outside the pretty village of Spartia on the beautiful Island of Kefalonia. Kefalonia (also known as Cephalonia or Kefallinia) has been made famous in the setting for Louis De Bernieres novel Captain Corellis Mandolin starring Nicholas Cage. The island has some of the best beaches in the world and is steeped in history.
As you arrive to Amari Villa, the eye is drawn to the bright walls of the villa contrasting starkly with the vibrant colours of the sea,blue sky, deep turquoise Ionian sea, sparkling clear water in the swimming pool, rich green rural tranquility, the craggy back-drop of Kefalonias Mount Aenos and Zante in the distance will transport you a million miles away from where you came.
The Villa set is in its own grounds , surrounded by olive groves (which belong to the property), set over 2 floors boasts 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area which covers most of the ground floor. Large balconies surround the property.
Outside you can savor those glorious views from the balconies surrounding the property, the garden surrounding the private pool which is the perfect size for cooling off rather than serious swimming. Location description
Spartia resides on the islands south coast, nestling in to the flank of Mount Aenos and commanding breathtaking view of the the Ionian sea and the Island of Zante.
Spartia village is a pretty Greek village which sits on a hillside above the beach , within easy reach of the airport and only a short 15 minute drive into Argostoli, the buzzing capital.
Kefalonia has many beaches, Myrtos Beach most photographed beach in Europe, Antisamos (where Captain Corelli's Mandolin was filmed). Near the Villa the nearest is Spartia or Cape Liakas. Slightly further you will find the Avithos and Lourdas.
Apart from the beaches there are historic sites and villages to visit, here's just a few, St George's Castle, Fiscardo, Argostoli the Capital, Sami, St. Gerasmios, Lixouri.
Take a day trip on a boat and visit Ithaca.
Other activities
Walking & Cycling are a firm favorites as there are many paths and treks around all of Kefalonia. Ideal way to discover Kefalonia.
Bird Watching - Kefalonia's unspoilt, wild countryside and coastline makes it a paradise for birdwatchers.
Tourist attractions
Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia with a population of around 8000. As it is a working port and town the only tourism is geared towards visiting cruise boats. In Argostoli you will find cultural and archaeological museums as well as a plethora of restaurants, cafes and a nightclub.
St. Georgios Castle stands on a hill above Peratata village, about 5 km from Spartia. The castle of St George dates back to Byzantine times
but the castles form that you will see now dates to the sixteenth century. After the Venetians conquered the Turks, the Castle became the capital
of their new colony. At the peak of Venetian power, 15,000 people lived in the fortress and its surrounding houses. Within up to 82 ft high and 20 ft thick walls, 8000 people found shelter whenever pirates or hostile forces attacked. It was the capital of the island until 1757.
St. Gerasmios For an interesting day out you might wish to visit the mummified body of St Gerasimos who is the Patron Saint of Kefalonia.
His body is sacred and is kept in a casket within the monastery. The old monastery is built over the cave where St Gerasimos lived as a hermit and can be reached by climbing down a ladder into the cavern below.
Drogarati Cave just 1.5 miles from Sami you will find the cave of Drogarati a naturally formed cave that is at least 150 million years old. It has
steps leading down in to the depths of the earth with a very impressive path, comfortable to walk on, has been hammered out between the huge stalactites and stalagmites. Because of its fantastic acoustics, Drogarati during the summer the cave is often used for musical concerts and performances.
Melissani Lake is one of the islands wonders, it is a stunning underground lake with the most stunning crystal blue water and is truly beautiful.
Most of the roof of the cave collapsed during the earthquake of 1953. The rocks at the bottom of the lake cause the water to shimmer in all shades
of green and blue. Small rowing boats manned by experiences guides take you into the cave giving you an amazing viewpoint of the stalactites
which are over 1000 years old. In ancient times the cave was used as a place of worship of the God Pan and the nymph Melissani.
Directions
From the UK many Charter airlines fly directly to Kefalonia from May to Nov, including Easyjet, Ryan Air, Monarch, Thomas Cook & Thompson. Many people drive from the UK via Italy and catch an overnight ferry to Kefalonia. Which ever transport you select a car is a must to discover Kefalonia

Above prices are for upto 9 people sharing the villa. Prices for 4 people sharing 2 bedrooms are available on request.
There is a 90 cleaning fee applicable to all bookings
We accept payments by bank transfer or PayPal.
At the time of booking, payments should be made as set out below:
A deposit of 50% of the total rental cost for the property is required to secure the booking. This deposit is non-refundable. If the booking is within 10 weeks of the date on which your rental arrangements with us are due to commence, then full payment is required.
Should you or any member of your party be responsible for any damage to your villa , above and beyond minor accidental damage covered by the waiver payment, the cost of such damage shall be your responsibility, together with any costs or losses that may arise from not being able to rent the villa as a result of the damage caused by you.
