Your stay at 7 Idwala Lodge – Nkwazi Ridge Estates.
Zinkwazi beach is an unspoilt seaside village on the east coast of Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa. The warm Indian Ocean washes pristine beaches fringed with indigenous bush. Tucked into a bay at the main swimming beach lies the placid Zinkwazi river lagoon – home of the Fish Eagle from which it derives its name. The river is a source of enjoyment for all ages – swimming, canoeing birding and fishing. In holiday season the local Ski Boat club on the beach is a popular social venue.
The Nkwazi Ridge is a gated estate situated near the entrance to the village and approximately 2km from the main beach. The estate is securely enclosed and has 24 hour security.
The Idwala Lodges are within the estate and comprise 8 town house units. These double story Lodges are situated adjacent to the club house, tennis court, 25 meter swimming pool and children’s pool and play area.
Lodge 7 has three upstairs carpeted bedrooms with balconies, and two bathrooms with both shower and bath.
Two of the bedrooms have double beds and one has two three quarter beds.
Downstairs is a large open plan living area and modern well equipped kitchen- with Dishwasher/Microwave/Washing Machine
The living area opens onto a veranda with built-in Braai /Barbecue facilities. An enclosed courtyard off the kitchen has a hot and cold shower. A small guest cloakroom is tucked away under the staircase.
The full package of DS TV programmes is offered and a PVR decoder is supplied. The house has ADSL wireless connection.
There is a carport plus 2 additional parking spaces
The Six sleeper Lodge is serviced daily.

Location description
Zinkwazi beach is an unspoilt seaside village on the east coast of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The warm Indian Ocean washes pristine beaches fringed with indigenous bush. Tucked into a bay at the main swimming beach lies the placid Zinkwazi river lagoon – home of the Fish Eagle from which it derives its name.
In Zinkwazi village we have the Raffia restaurant at Lagoon Lodge and the Ocean Reef Hotel Restaurant, in addition to a friendly convenience store with an outdoor coffee shop serving light meals and refreshments.
Other activities
The river is a source of enjoyment for all ages – swimming, canoeing birding and fishing. In holiday season the local Ski Boat club on the beach is a popular social venue.
Golf courses – Darnall Country Club golf course is 5km away, and Princes Grant about 20 minutes drive from Zinkwaz1.
The Darnall tennis and bowling club encourage visitors on a Wednesday and Saturday. This sports club is well known for its friendly atmosphere. The adjacent Darnall Club is where locals and visitors meet in the warm atmosphere of the ladies bar and Roy’s restaurant (Millers Arms) is know as the best ‘value for money’ in the area.
Visit nearby Stanger - it’s a blend of Afro-Asian culture. Bargain with Haroon over his magnificent imported Indian fabric. Visit White house where the variety of arts & crafts available would keep you busy all year. Try the local Indian street food or sit on the roof top restaurant at Jay’s corner where you can absorb local flavour over a curry lunch. Manjeerah’s boasts the best selection of herbs and curry powders to take home.
Dining out at Tinely Manor’s ‘Impulse’ is recommended as is ‘Cindy’s’ on the circle in Umhlali for Indian and Mauritian specialities. Call here on your way to Ballito.
For a change from the beach we encourage you to drive to nearby Harold Johnson Game Reserve, fifteen km away. Walking trails lead through magnificent indigenous bush where a great variety of birds can be seen as well as the occasional impala, common duiker, red and blue duiker.
For shopping we recommend Ballito. Lifestyle centre at the first circle has a great variety of popular shops and restaurants.

Take the N2 freeway North from Durban. Pass Umhlanga, Ballito and Stanger. Take Zinkwazi Beach/Darnall offramp and at the stop sign turn right towards Zinkwazi. Follow the road for 4km - we are the first Estate on your right
From Richards Bay / Empangeni
Take the N2 freeway South towards Durban. Take Zinkwazi Beach/Darnall off ramp and at the stop street sign turn left towards Zinkwazi. Follow the road for 4km - we are the first Estate on the right
On the N3
• Take a scenic short cut from Colenso or Mooi River or Pietermaritzburg through Greytown and Stanger to meet the N2 heading north from Durban;
• Take the Zinkwazi off-ramp from the N2 and cross over the fly-over bridge;
• Proceed onto Nkwazi Drive;
