Description
A piece of history the Jomaro Beach House is a traditional teak house from Java and this particular one dates back to 1925. The Jomaro Beach House has a bit of the pirate feel to it and there is plenty of bounty to be had! It is ideal for families as it is for couples, newly weds or a group of close friends.
Jomaro is located in NE Bali and lies in a secluded spot jostled between coconut trees, jungle and the ocean is right at your front door! The surrounding area is a quite peaceful fishing village and the locals are delightful, kind and helpful.
There are 4 bedrooms en suite and behind each main bedroom are 2 smaller bedroom with bunk beds in each one, ideally suited for children.
A fully functional kitchen so that you can cook your own meals. Veggies, fish, fruit, tea and coffee can be easily bought in the surrounding little shops called 'Warung'.
DINING: You may ask the housekeeper's mother to cook your meals of traditional Balinese food, or you may wish to dine next door at a centre with a reasonably priced menu.
SWIMMING POOL. Guests may use the pool at the centre next door and all they ask in return is that you buy food or drink at their restaurant in exchange.
SUNRISE:
Every morning (obviously) in front of your balcony at around 5.30 6pm and its a great way to welcome the day.
FULL MOON:
This is especially lovely at the Jomaro as the moon rises over the ocean, making the full moon especially romantic for those on honeymoons.
DOLPHIN SPOTTING:
Pak Mega is the maids father and he lives just behind in the jungle and is the Dolphin tour guide. The cost is around Rp300.000 (US30) for a 2 hour trip. Pak Mega is also a fisherman and you can buy tuna from him at a cost of around $3 per kilo. Pak Mega peaks some English and he is the one that will arrange any other travel arrangements for you, like you next destination after your stay.
SACRED WATERFALL:
The sacred waterfall is around 15-20 min away and this can either be done by car or motorcycle. There is a guy there called Gede (Geday) he is the park reserve tour guide and knows all the local fauna and medicinal plants which is rather informative. Entrance is by donation and the recommended donation is around $3 dollars each and then for the guide you could give him a tip of $5. Gede is just super nice and friendly.
CEREMONIES:
Pak Mega can let you know what temple ceremonies are in the area. In the house there are 2 sarongs that you must wear if you are going to any ceremonies and wear something that covers all your arms, Komang the maid (Pak Mega's daughter) will make sure that you attire is ok. Unfortunately women during menstruation are not permitted to entire the temple during those days, as blood is the life force, it contains spirits and you may have been possessed recently by a demon and they don't want those slippery fellows in their temple thank you very much :-) Same goes if you have open cuts or other type of wounds that could potentially leak demons.
MIND - BODY - SOUL
The centre next door regularly has yoga meditation or spiritual workshops.
WINDSURFING:
If you have your own gear you can windsurf in this area.
SNORKELLING:
You can snorkel right in front of the property. There are two masks in the house, if you require more the centre next door rents them out.
HAND PHONES:
You can bring your phones as you can purchase SIM cards and get a local number for around $3 dollars including credit.
LOCAL BATHING POOL:
In Tejakulas main village there is a public bathing/washing pool, the water comes directly from the mountain so is constantly running. Male and female sections only.
CHILDREN:
If you have come as family and want a bit of time just the two of you, our house keeper Komang, can look after your children and teach them how to make temple offerings out of coconut leaves.
CAR RENTAL:
If you want to get around the island a car can be arranged for hire with or without a driver.
Sound like home?....we thought not.
