Description
Aloni is an old farmhouse which has been used for more than two centuries as a dwelling of the farmers cultivating the fertile land of Phylakopi. Consistent with its long history it was renovated with eco-friendly materials preserving the original structure and shape of the building and with the out-most respect to the environment.
Half of it being carved in the rock of a small hill while the other half is built of Melian stones, it occupies an area of 90m2 and is located in a land of 4000m2.
The house has three independent entrance doors providing autonomy to each of its three main rooms allocated on a single storey with slight elevations. The main Bedroom (18 m2) has a double bed built of stone. The Sala (21 m2) consists of a big room with a twin bed and a single, stone-built bed and a smaller area which is arranged as fully functional equipped kitchenette. It communicates with the master bedroom through a smaller room, the Nest (6 m2), with a single sofa-bed. Katogas, is an old cave four steps below the sala. It serves as a sitting area (20 m2) or a bedroom with a bell shaped twin bed and a single, stone-built bed. A rooftop fixed glass contributes bright sunlight in the room and its second door leads to the sea-garden.
The sea-garden, planted with colorful shrubs and native cedar trees, is furnished with an original sitting area designed in the shape of a traditional threshing floor (Aloni). It is an ideal place to marvel at beautiful sunsets and the sea (100 m).

Location description
Milos is an island of the western Cyclades famous for the classical statue of Venus (Aphrodite), its numerous startling beaches and unique rock formations. The area of Phylakopi is a fertile small valley at the northern part of the island where various prehistoric cities repeatedly flourished between 3000 and 1000 BC. It is peaceful with many cultivated fields and groves with very old trees while scattered around lie its few other houses.
You will grasp the essence of country living. The area has no facilities but in 2.5 km is the picturesque small port of Pollonia with restaurants, coffee-shops, bakeries, super-markets and almost everything else you might need for your vacation. Bigger towns provide all the essentials. The main port is 9 km away.
Some of the nicest beaches of the island are close by. You may enjoy long walks around the area while if you have your own transportation means you may easily visit all interesting spots of Milos within 10-15 minutes. Boat tours around the island is a big attraction you should not miss.

Directions
Milos airport is directly connected to El. Venizelos, the international airport of Athens (flight time 25 mins). An alternative would be to fly to the international airport of Santorini and then reach Milos by boat.
You can also get to the island by boat from Piraeus, the port of Athens. Trip duration depends on the type of boat (conventional ferries: 5-8 hours, high-speed boats: 1.5 – 4.5 hours). Milos is also linked to most of the Cycladic islands by boat.
