Description
My chalet is set in the Silver Ranch amid 17 hectares of privately owned estate constructed around a fenced game encampment. Suitably furnished, Chalet 40 provides accommodation for up to six guests across two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom. Fully equipped throughout, the loft area offers a spacious playroom for children, whilst the built-in barbecues provide for an idyllic evening dining alfresco with all the family. After an afternoon spent soaking up the glorious South African sunshine, the shared swimming pool offers a refreshing way to cool down.
Ideal for those wishing to explore the spectacular scenery, guests can hike to the Keurbooms River lagoon mouth to observe the exotic birdlife, or travel east to Keurbooms Strand, where the plateau drops down towards the sea and the rocky coastline begins. A plethora of things to do and see are easily accessible when staying at Chalet 40, including the discovery of the native wildlife with Ocean Blue Adventures and deep-sea fishing trips, whilst a visit to Buffalo Hills Game Reserve and Rhino Base Camp is a must. Located just 90 kilometres from George Airport, Chalet 40 is within reach of Knysna - sporting the famous Pezula golf course - Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Shamwari Game Reserve by car. With the access to 'our own beach' via the little bush path, you should be able to enjoy something quite special during your stay.Cosmopolitain Magazine rated this beach as their 2nd most Special Beach in a 1996 issue.
Your enquiry will be sent to Mr Eric Reurts (house manager) and myself, but the actual booking confirmation will be processed by him. He will also arrange the keys and the showing of Chalet 40 to you.

Location description
Chalet 40 is located 8km east of Plettenberg Bay, and 300m from 9 km of uninterrupted sandy beach. From this location, guests can explore all the attractions that have made this beautiful bay famous. The temperate climate of this area allows for year-round visiting with a pleasant summer period that extends into late April. The property forms part of Silver Ranch, a 17-hectare privately-owned estate of 52 houses constructed around a fenced game encampment. Guests have access to a shared unheated swimming pool, and the large and well-maintained common grounds make this tranquil and safe location very suitable for young children.
This area sports some of the finest beaches along the Garden Route coastline and guests can drive to a number of these jewels. Those wishing to walk to the sea can do so via a footpath that directly links Long Beach to Silver Ranch. This 10km uninterrupted sandy beach allows for guests to hike all the way to the Keurbooms River lagoon mouth to observe the birdlife, or to walk east to Keurbooms Strand, where the plateau drops down to the sea, and the rocky coastline starts. Dolphins playing in the waves are a daily feature, and during the months of June to November Southern Right and Humpback whales are a regular sight in this most beautiful of bays.
Directions
Most of my guests drive from Cape Town or George Airports, so I have included the driving directions from there:
You should travel on the N2 motorway. This is the main motorway up the east coast. The first sighting of Plettenberg Bay will be Kwanokothula - a large sprawling township on the right. Soon afterwards you will come over a ridge, and be able to see the beautiful bay of Plettenberg Bay. Ignore both turnings into Plettenberg Bay. The first is at the top of the town - a large roundabout, which you cross over to continue along the N2, and the next about 2km further at the bottom of the hill (large shopping complex to the right) Continue along with the N2 for about 3 minutes - cross two bridges (Bitou, and Keurbooms) Soon after crossing the Keurbooms River Bridge the road curves to the right, and as soon as it straightens you will have to turn right, at a signposting to Keurbooms River. Immediately opposite this turn-off is the entrance to Thyme & Again road stall. Once you have turned into Keurbooms River, follow the small road for about 400 - 500m, and Silver Ranch will appear on the left. You simply cannot miss it.
Please call Mr Reurts during work hours before your arrival so that someone can meet you at the Silver Ranch gate and accompany you to the house.
