Description
Introduction
Situated just outside the small village of St Comes et Maruejols, in between the roman city of Nimes and the vibrant city of Montpellier, yet only 35 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea, our beautiful, spacious 18th century country house with all the modern conveniences, is a perfect, peaceful setting for a large family get together, a couple of families or a group of friends.
Our house has five bedrooms and sleeps up to nine guests comfortably, plus babies.
The established, walled garden is full of mediterranean plants and we have a private field running along side. You will adore the feeling of space, the originality of the house and be charmed by the private swimming pool, covered terrace and the tree house, which delights all generations.
Plenty of space to find private corners and to come together with family and friends over long, delicious meals on the covered terrace.
The House
Our house is light and airy, with high ceilings and flowing rooms. The kitchen has a huge oven and fridge and all the mod cons you need, perfect for cooking up feasts.
The sitting room with the cosy fireplace flows into the gorgeous hallway with her majestic staircase. The dining room opens onto the covered terrace and there's even a den for watching films or reading.
There is a also a utility room with a washing machine and a downstairs loo!
Upstairs there are five light bedrooms with huge windows, two bathrooms and a separate loo. Every room has a gorgeous view of the swimming pool, field, front garden or hills.
The Grounds
The house is set in mature gardens of approx. 3000 sq. metres, with our private field running alongside the property of approx. 2.5 acres.
The private pool is 9 x 4 metros and is surrounded by a lovely terrace. All sun loungers and pool towels are provided. There is a covered terrace which has views over the pool and also a window which offers views out onto the field and hills behind the village of St. Come. There is a large round table for ten people. It is a perfect spot for long, lazy lunches and suppers on warm summer evenings, with the garden lit by the pool light once the sun has gone to bed.
The large built in BBQ is next to the house and boules pitch (boules provided).
The bespoke treehouse is magical for children big and little and the views from it are spectacular.
There is a garden at the front and back of the house, so it is easy to find a peaceful spot for those quiet moments. There is a gate which divides the two gardens, so if you don’t want your children to play by the swimming pool, you can close it and only open the doors into the front garden which is also fun to explore.
There is plenty of room for parking in the private drive.

Our third wonderful holiday here. The last two weeks have been amazing again. Such a great place and fabulous to be back. This place is bliss.
The O Family, August 2018
We’ve just spent a fabulously sunny two weeks at St Come in the delightful Mas de Mahystre. We went with another family and the house easily absorbed both families very comfortably. The kids were blissfully happy swimming in the pool in the garden, or playing in the treehouse and picking blackberries or plums from the trees. When we fancied a change of scene, there were lots of options, from local Sunday markets to evening markets nearby. We did a couple of day trips to La Grande Motte beach for some sand and sea, which was an easy half hour drive away. Another day, we drove to the impressive Pont du Gard to marvel at the Roman architecture, whilst swimming in the refreshingly cool water of the river. Evenings were spent on the terrace or playing boules, whilst listening to the noise of the cicadas. Thank you Claire and your family for lending us your beautiful home.

The house was utterly charming nestled just outside the village of Mareujols St Come in the French countryside. The traditional farm house was perfect for the kids to explore & play in. The pool provided a welcome respite from the heat, along with the covered verandah. The nightly boule competitions provided much competitive cheating & a chance to relax with a glass or two of the local rose once the kids were in bed! We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and a wonderful time was had by all.

We stayed at your beautiful property last week. Thank you so very much for a great holiday. We very much enjoyed Mas de Mahystre and had the best holiday.
The L Family, August 2018
It's been a memorable and very happy week at Mas de Mahystre. Thank you very much for everything.
The D Family, August 2017
We have just spent a delightful week in Mas de Mahystre which was perfect for our 2 families with teenagers. We found the house to be charming and spent many hours by the pool and had all our meals in the shaded outdoor eating area. Architectural features of the tiled floor and staircase were a real joy. Claire gave us a wonderful start beforehand by answering any number of questions and even booking dinner on our first night in her favourite local restaurant.

Our two young sons (who both love to swim) enjoyed a week's stay at Mahystre located near St. Come. Clean and well maintained, the kitchen had a full sized refrigerator and plenty of storage for food! A great kitchen for those who enjoy cooking! The pool was clean and the lounge chairs were cozy - also the option of getting shade from the umbrellas - thanks for having those as well. The owners provided some blow up pool floaties and we relaxed in the hammock, ate all meals on the outside (shaded) terrace. St. Come was a short walk from the house but a quick bike or drive away (2Km) was Calvisson, which offered wonderful choices of pastries and a market, pub, cafe open for breakfast! The owners were wonderful in communicating with us before the trip as well as providing a detailed listing of where to go (nearest and best beaches - thanks for that lovely suggestion!) where to eat along with telephone numbers to make reservations! Since we had five adults and five children, we had most of our meals at the house and drove to Arles for lunch (one of my most memorable day trips), Pont du Gard was a quick drive, too, and of course we spent an easy day at the beach. Beautiful home with modern decor, completely stocked kitchen (French press coffee - YAY!), pool, views and more. When you dream of staying in 'that' French country house with the shudders and the ivy...this is the special home of your dreams. Did I mention the petanque?"
