    THE HOUSE WILL BE CLEANED 4 DAYS BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL AND THEN LEFT UNTOUCHED

    This property is ideally located for exploring Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire.
    It is a lovely, detached house in a quiet location with private gardens and a south facing patio area overlooking a park and open fields. There is private off road parking for 2 vehicles

    Direct access to the park from the patio is via a ladder and in the park are tennis courts and a childrens play area/skate park on the far side.

    Located approximately 10 miles from Longleat, 25 miles from Bath, 20 miles west of Stonehenge and just over an hour's drive from north and south coasts at Weston Supermare and Bournemouth respectively.

    There is easy access to the A303 which gives superb access to London or in to Somerset and on into Devon. It is only 90 mins drive from the M25.

    There are National Trust properties nearby, beautiful scenery and lovely quiet roads.

    The countryside around Mere offers good walking, cycling, golfing and fishing.

    Mere is a very old town with lovely stone buildings and a great deal of history dating back to medieval times. Castle Hill is the site of a ruined castle built in 1253.

    There is a good sized Co-op supermarket (open until 10.00 pm every day) and 3 pubs with restaurants. All the pubs allow children and 2 of them are particularly family friendly.

    Other shops include a Post Office, chemist, gren grocer, florist, butcher, antiques, wine merchant, fish-n-chips, Chinese takeaway and curry house.

    The Dorset town of Gillingham is only 5 miles away and has a greater range of shops and a large Tesco and Waitrose. You should be able to find everything you need in Mere or Gillingham but there is a larger shopping centre in the Wiltshire Cathedral Town of Salisbury which is only 25 miles away.

    One of the nicest things about staying in Mere is that you are not living in a tourist destination. Every day you can enjoy a quiet drive to somewhere of interest and then return to calmer surroundings in the evenings.

    Mere is a small, very old town. It has many quaint old buildings dating back to the 1200's when a castle was built and the town grew up around the castle. Mere is surrounded by beautiful open countryside and very quiet roads

    Everything you need is here and good base for trips out, Mere is a very friendly village and The Walnut Tree is very good for food with very friendly staff. Fabulous places to see and Glastonbury and Stonehenge are must sees. Good relaxing week.

    A lovely house and an excellent base for visiting Stonehenge, Longleat Safari Park, Cheddar Gorge and Bath. The local park is great for the kids, just wish they had brought their scooters to have a go on the skate ramps! We had everything we needed in the house and made use of the BBQ too. Would definitely recommend to others.

    A lovely place to stay with lovely views over the field at the back, where we took the little ones to play and had a picnic. It is a very good base for local attractions - Wookey Hole, Longleat, Haynes Motor Museum, Fleet Air Arms Museum, East Somerset Railway, Bath and many more. We had a fantastic week and the weather was good. Mere is a lovely place to stay with amenities all within walking distance. Would stay here again.

    We are a family with 4 kids (aged from 6 to 15) from Vienna and we spent a really good time in this home. Mere is a small town but offers everything you need. Restaurant and a supermarket as well as playground and a great soccer area just behind the house. Whenever we had to organise something the kids just climbed over the wall and were free to do what ever they liked... even inside the house are games and enough place to have time for oneself. Mere is located perfect to visit a lot of lovely and very interesting places and villages too! I recommend this home absolutely! Thanks for our perfect time here!

    Smoking is not allowed inside the property. Guest may smoke outside and an ashtray is provided on the patio
    Pets are not allowed in the property.
    Private parking is provided for 2 cars. Additional cars and larger vehicles may not be able to use the parking area.
    There is a ladder for easy access over the wall in to the park, although this must be at your own risk.
    The house should be left in a tidy condition on your departure.
    Washing up may be put in the dishwasher and the dishwasher left running.
    Bed linen and bath towels are provided for your use in the house. We suggest you bring your own beach towels with you.
