Doughmakeon beach is short walk away, Carrowniskey beach well known for surfing (surf lessons available daily during peak season) is a 5 min drive away. Old Head (a blue flag beach) & Silver Strand beach are close by. Westport is a 20 min drive and Croagh Patrick 15 mins drive. Ferry available from Roonagh Pier to Inish Turk & Clare Island 2 km from house.
Ideal base for walking/hill walking (Mweelrea & Sheeffry Mountains close by) /fishing/cycling (greenway from Westport to Achill) Croagh Patrick riding stables are nearby.
