    Description

Glengarriff Lodge is truly a place apart. Located on its own private island in the Glengarriff River, it is connected by three bridges to the surrounding mature gardens and wooded estate of some forty acres. Originally built as a hunting lodge and retreat for the Earls of Bantry over 200 years ago, it has recently been restored and now provides all the conveniences that one would expect from a modern and luxurious home from home, while still retaining all of its historic charm. Glengarriff Lodge Estate is completely surrounded by over one thousand acres of National Nature Reserve which is maintained by the state as one of Irelands' last remaining ancient forests and has many spectacular woodland trails.
The Lodge offers a rare thing; the chance to enjoy a pristine natural setting in complete privacy and luxurious comfort.
The four bedrooms have very different characters but all are generously proportioned and each has spectacular views, three of the bedrooms are en-suite. The wood and marble main bathroom has a calm and elemental feel to it and there is a cloakroom downstairs with WC. The heart of the house is a large kitchen dining room with professional cooking facilities and an impressive marble fireplace and antique oak dining table. There is a double glazed timber conservatory leading out from the kitchen which in turn opens out onto a large elevated patio overlooking the river. There is plenty of garden furniture and a gas barbecue for those sunny days. For the evenings, the cosy sitting room with its comfortable furniture, log fire and entertainment system is the perfect place to unwind.
