    Description

    Ashfield Cottage comprises:
    Large sitting/dining room with gas fired stove, television with incorporated DVD, plus a stereo and I player/phone dock.
    Well equipped kitchen with frig-freezer, gas hob, double gas ovens, dishwasher and microwave.
    3 bedrooms one double (king) and two double or twin (one super king, one king)
    Family bathroom upstairs, with over bath shower.
    Downstairs shower room with walk in shower and lavatory.
    Utility room with washing machine
    Sun room off the kitchen which provides a second dining area and leads into the sunny back court yard.

    The whole house is decorated to a high standard. There is Wi-Fi and we are lucky enough (for Wales!) to get a good mobile phone signal.

    Ashfield cottage is heated throughout with gas fired central heating. The west facing front garden is particularly lovely on sunny evenings, when you can watch the sun set along the Usk Valley, while the courtyard outside the sun room catches the morning sun - lovely for al fresco breakfast! A welcome pack and linen are included. While one well behaved dog is permissible by arrangement, the cottage is not really suitable for very small children or infirm people.

    The welcome pack contains basics such as milk, bread, eggs, sparkling water and a bottle of wine. General provisions (e.g. tea, coffee, jam and marmalade) and general cooking ingredients are constants in the food cupboards. However it is possible to supply more substantial provisions by arrangement.

    We request no smoking anywhere in the house and reserve the right to charge for extra cleaning if smoking should take place.

    Location description

    The cottage is situated on the edge of Crickhowell, withing easy walking distance of the shops etc. and also the river Usk which flows through Crickhowell. There are lovely views of The Brecon Beacons which are a short distance away and the Llangattock Hills across the river. On the far side of the river can also be found the Brecon to Pontypool canal and the market town of Abergavenny (with station) is about 8 miles away.

    Local events

    Crickhowell is well situated for many annual events: The Crickhowell Walking Festival is in February followed by the internationally popular Hay Festival in late May/early June. In July the Royal Welsh Show is held at Builth Wells then the Brecon Jazz and The Green Man Festivals are in August. September brings the now famous Abergavenny Food Festival.

    Tourist attractions

    Cardiff Castle, Castel Coch,The Big Pit Coal mine & Brecon Mountain Steam Railway to name but a few.

    Directions

    Crickhowell is situated on the A40 between Abergavenny and Brecon. Full directions will be supplied on booking. A car is not essential and taxis can be arranged from Abergavenny station.

    The television has a DVD player incorporated in it. There are a few radio/CD/tape players around the house plus an I-player dock.

    As well as a dining area in the sitting room, there is also a table in sun-room plus plenty of chairs scattered around the house.

    There is a washing line which can hang either outside in the court yard, or inside the sun room.

    The single garage can be locked. Unfortunately the house is not suitable for people who are not fairly able since there are steps in both the garden and house.
