    Description

    Built for the Miller at Cotehele in 1891 Rivendell is a cosy, comfortable, quietly situated country retreat set in the Tamar Valley, designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. Just on the outskirts of Harrowbarrow village, it sits on the road to Cotehele Quay on the Tamar River.

    Recently renovated Rivendell has 4 double bedrooms (sleeps 6), one with ensuite and all with king size beds, plus a large bathroom. Downstairs is open plan with a fully equipped kitchen and large range cooker, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer/dryer. There are two log burning stoves, one in the dining section and one in the living room area, with flat screen tv, freeview and internet access. All bed linen and towels are included.

    Outside there is a decked area with table and chairs for relaxing with your book or a glass of wine. There is also off road parking for 3 cars.

    Ideally situated for both Cornwall and going over the border to Devon, it offers a multitude of opportunities for exploring and sightseeing. From Dartmoor to Landsend the choice is endless !! Close by is Cotehele House a beautiful National Trust property set in lovely grounds, so plenty of walks either in the woods or by the river. Morwellham Quay lies a little further up the river and is a very interesting day out, as is a trip to the ancient market town of Tavistock with its pannier market and cafes.

    Plymouth is a short drive away for a more cosmopolitan day out ! with plenty of shops, restaurants, theatre, leisure centre and historic Barbican and Hoe. The delights of Cornwall with its pretty villages, beaches, walks, beautiful National Trust Properties and places to visit such as the Eden Project, are just a drive away.

    Or you could decided to just explore the valley and stay close to home, walk to the local pub for an excellent dinner or visit Cotehele for lunch by the quay after a nice walk through the woods, or trip around the house and gardens. Whatever you decide to do Rivendell is the perfect place to do it !

    Harrowbarrow is located 4 miles from Callington (A388). If arriving by train, Liskeard station is the closest link or Saltash station the next best. Newquay airport is about an hours drive and Exeter airport is a little further, there are bus and train links from both.
    Brittany Ferries dock at Plymouth from France and Spain.

    Directions

    From the Tamar Bridge, Saltash, take the A388 sign posted for Callington. Follow this road until you reach the roundabout with the 1st exit sign posted for St Mellion Golf and Country Club, take the 3rd exit for St Dominick. Follow until you reach the T junction on the outskirts of the village, turn right sign posted for Bohetherick. You will go past the pub the Who'd have thought it, on your right. Follow the lane down, round a sharp right hand bend and take the next turning on the left (oak tree on the small island in the middle of the junction). Follow the steep road down into the valley, at the bottom turn left and follow the road through the woods until you see a large white house on the left named 'Bartletts'....you have arrived !
