Langdale View has an enviable location amid some of Lakeland’s most spectacular scenery. Everywhere you look is natural beauty! By road it is only 4 1/2 miles from Ambleside, 5 1/2 from Coniston & 3 from Grasmere. If you prefer a delightful walk - it's easy to get to Grasmere, Rydal, Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge etc on foot for a fantastic day out. The Cumbrian Way runs along the outskirts of the village.
The little village has a well stocked shop, great cafe, wainwrights pub, church and country spa if you fancy a day relaxing in the pool. All are a short stroll away!
At the entry to the Langdale valley on the outskirts of Chapel Stile with fine views from every window, the cottage faces due south & is an ideal base for touring, walking or climbing.
Stroll 250 yards back to this quaint little village whose church holds the famous Langdale Tapestry. The local shop, said to be the friendliest Co-op in England, sells delicious local produce. For excellent food, Brambles Café, Langdale Country Club and Wainwright’s are all in the village.
At least 3 more excellent pubs [eg the fantastic Three Shires & Old Dungeon Ghyll] are in walking distance. A step away is the river, woods and a tarn to paddle in on warm days. For a day of swimming, sauna, pampering, get a leisure pass for the luxury spa at the Langdale Country Club [which also has a top class restaurant] at the other end of the village.
Enjoy countless delightful walks right from the door. Climb the famous Langdale Pikes, hike over to Grasmere, stroll along the river to Elterwater or along the Langdale Valley to Dungeon Ghyll or take the bus to Ambleside with its shops & restaurants. By car, avoid the traffic and take the back road to Coniston, Hawkshead and the ferry to Windermere. For real wilderness, the Wrynose and Hardknott passes are nearby and lead over the mountains to the little Eskdale railway & the sea!
