    Idyllic Samui Villa

We were met by the lovely manager who told us to leave our luggage and walked us down the concrete private road to our villa. She unlocked the wooden-carved gate and we entered a little bit of paradise. A lush garden with beautifully manicured hedges and bushes, flowering trees, and palm trees greeted us. To our immediate left is our guest house that has two bedrooms, one with two twin beds and the other with a full sized bed and a twin bed, and each room has its own private bath facilities. The garden area located between the main building and the guest house has its own private swimming pool. The swimming pool is lined in a Caribbean blue tile and has a little side pool for babies or just to sit in while reading. There is exterior lighting for the tree area and the pool has multicolored lighting inside the pool. Lovely at night. There are also up to six lounging chairs with an umbrella or two available on the grassy area by the pool. Our villa has outside fans on the patio to keep the area fresh and bug free. This time of year there aren't many bugs, so that is good. Our patio is about 18'X14' clay tiles with a 6' wooden bench, a 'wicker' wrap around couch and a caned chair and footstool and is edged with flowering hibiscus bushes. Sliding doors lead into the living are, and sliding doors lead into the bedroom, and a front door leads into the center of the villa. We have a casual wooden dining set that seats 6 with room for more, a fully equipped kitchen ready for whatever food you bring in, a fridge that has a freezer on top, and a freezer drawer on the bottom. There was a bowlful of mangoes, a watermelon, and some other type of fruit that was harvested from the area in the center of the kitchen table. This morning we heard someone call good morning, and found a fresh loaf of bread on our patio. Leaving our villa through the gate, we turn left and walk down the concrete roadway a bit and enter the walkway to the beach. This walkway is arched with green bushes in full flower. The beach is shared among the three resorts located here. It has beautiful sand, a crescent shape that is plenty big. There are two good restaurants accessible via the beach area or you can have the chef come into your villa and prepare meals for you. The staff were very attentive and friendly – absolutely outstanding. We loved our relaxing 6 night stay here. A warning for those who are looking for big parties and loud music, you won't find that here. Idyllic is located at the tippy tip of the island and is remote to the crowded 'popular' places. A cab or renting a motorcycle or car will get you around the island to party, to shop, or just to explore. Returning to Idyllic will take you back to paradise.

    “5 star service!”

We spent 12 days at Idyllic Samui and were taken care of with beyond 5 star service by Natalia, Bhumi and the rest of the Idyllic staff. The facilities themselves are very nice (although more a 4 star level than a real 5 star resort) but it was the wonderful attention that was provided that made the stay really special. Natalia and Bhumi arranged dinners in residence, made reservations for us at restaurants, arranged for massages, arranged a car for rental, and many other things.

The first few days we were at Idyllic the weather was not great but it was still fairly hot and we made good use of our private pool (we were in the Mangrove Villa). The last several days the weather was better and we spent most of the time at the beach just a short walk through the resort. Next door is the Ayaburi resort which has a decent restaurant and we ate there a fair amount. They also have a mini golf course which was a fun diversion. The beach is quite nice (although there are some rocks, so you need to be careful when swimming) and not crowded as it only serves Idyllic, Ayaburi and the Six Senses resort.

We rented a car (with Natalia's assistance) and that was quite useful as the resort is a bit remote from shopping. However, the resort also offers a shuttle service for 100 baht per person to most of the main shopping and entertainment destinations, so that also works if one doesn't want to rent a car. Scooters are also available.

Overall, very enjoyable stay. Definitely recommend to families or large groups (we were 8 and our villa had four bedrooms, just perfect).
