    Description

    Located in the centre of the quaint historical village of Guéméne-sur-Scorff, this beautiful 17thC house has been restored with huge amounts of dedication and care to offer a luxurious holiday space. Surrounded by the local bars & restaurants, boulangeries, shops, banks & supermarkets, this is a perfect place for couples, families (4yrs and up- children need to be confident with walking up and down stairs independently), and small groups who would like a getaway and enjoy the option of being close to amenities & with plenty of options to explore the countryside & coast.

    The main house has a lovely sense of calm with enough space to sleep up to 5 people. There is an option of one additional person sleeping in a separate yoga studio/playroom.

    On the ground floor is the main sitting room with large leather sofas, free view UK TV, free view French TV, a dvd player, music playing system and restored fireplace; joining onto a well-appointed kitchen with dishwasher, butlers sink, electric oven, gas hobs & long antique wooden table with plenty of room for group meals. The double glass doors give a feeling of space and opens out onto a small stylish balcony.

    The main bedroom is located on the first floor & sleeps two -one king size or two singles- is light and spacious, with a mini library and looks out onto the main street. Also located on the first floor is a main luxurious bathroom, with a large shower, an original cast iron bath and heated towel rail.

    The top 2nd floor is open planned & bright with the option of one king size or two singles at one end; and at the opposite end the option of a quiet sitting space with views over the back of the village - or - convert the double sofa into a double bed making the possibility for another room for one.

    Facing the main house is a small tranquil studio for yoga/ mediation/ movement/ music/reading and with the possibility of sleeping one extra person.

    Gardens- Set behind the yoga studio are two private gardens; one a stoned garden with extra outdoor seating and, the second back garden is grassy, with a wooden terrace, outdoor seating and a bbq. Both are quiet with a view of the back of the village.

    Location description

    Centred in the main street, guest can access restaurants, bars, shops on foot. Guéméne is a pretty little village surrounded by wooded hillsides. Dating back to the 15th century with its historic monument and picturesque buildings it provides culture and interest to many visitors every year. Its most famous for its ‘Andouille’ and to celebrate, there is a big Andouille festival at the end of August each year with wonderful Breton music and dancing.

    The Scorff Valley is rich, with protected natural and historical heritage, & has 400km of marked trails to discover, running between woodland and river.

    There are a number of beautiful walks to the surrounding countryside right from the doorstep. The beautiful beaches along the south Brittany coastline are only a 45minute drive away & the north coast is just over an hour away. Lac du Guerledan is only 30minutes up the road & offers an array of activity from water sports, bike riding to magnificent walks. The impressive Abbey de Bon Repos with its lovely relaxing Sunday market is also just a 30 minutes drive.

    La fete d' andouille takes place at the end of August; Le Grand Brocante takes place in the first week of August; Musique de Guémene- every Thursday throughout the summer there is live music outside the Chateau/Mairie; Le Cavalcade Carnival, full of colour and flare and floats - every 2yrs in May/June

    Directions

    Guemene s/scorff is 45mins from the closest train station in Lorient; 1h45 mins to Brest, Rennes and Dinar airports; 1h45 mins to St Marlo ferry port; 3.5hrs to Caen; 5hrs Le Harve. Buses are available to Guémené from Lorient, Rennes and Pontivy- however are not so frequent.
