Description
The mill was built in the early 1700's and has been beautifully restored along with our gite “Hirondelle”, to a very high standard. We also offer 2 large chambres d’hotes rooms, both with en-suite shower rooms.
The buildings are set around a large gravelled courtyard that is entered through an electrically operated security gate making the grounds safe and secure.
With children in mind we have ensured that there is no direct access to the millpond or river.

The private garden overlooking vineyards is lawned and paved with a wisteria covered pergola, BBQ, sunloungers, table & chairs. There is a large field adjacent to the cottage suitable for ball games, badminton, football etc. A selection of outdoor toys/games is available. A paddling pool suitable for babies is provided. Bicycle hire can be arranged and delivered to your door.

Location description
Our village of Saint Philippe du Seignal is only 4kms from the bustling Bastide town of Ste Foy-la-Grande, which offers no fewer than 5 large supermarkets. There is also a good range of shops, restaurants and bars as well as an excellent local market every Saturday.
Drive through lovely rolling vineyard scenery to the famous Chateau de Monbazillac and the lively market town of Bergerac.
Just a few kilometres from the Mill is the famous golfing haven of Chateau des Vigiers with more challenging courses at Medoc (north of Bordeaux - 55 minutes).
Cycling and rambling are pleasant pastimes more or less year round in this area, and of course the wine-lover is more than adequately catered for with wine-growing Chateaux sign posted at seemingly every minor crossroad.

Arcachon on the Atlantic coast, just half and hour south of Bordeaux, has the largest sand dune in Europe. It offers spectacular views from the top across the bay and is famous for oysters and mussels. Great surfing beaches too.

The average temperature from April - September is 18 deg. C with an average highest temperature for this period of 24.7 deg. C. On average the maximum temperature between June - August is just over 28 deg.C. The average number of hours of sunshine from May - August is 9 hours per day.
If you are looking for an out of season break the months of April, May, June and October are highly recommended with good temperatures and no crowds.

The Battle of Castillon – celebrating the last battle of the Hundred Years War. Castillon stage a fantastic evening on several summer evenings. Performances start at 10.00p.m. duration 2˝hours. Meals available in the “medieval tavern”. Highly recommended.
Saint Emilion – Wine Festival weekend of the 16/17th June. Spring celebration and judgment of the new wine by the Jurade (Wine Guild) on the 16th June.

We are situated in the Gironde region of the "Purple Perigord" famous for it's vineyards and on the edge of the departments of the Charente, Dordogne and the Lot et Garonne. Further a field you will find, amidst the beautiful countryside and stunning scenery, many historical sites from Bastide, (walled) towns to fairy tale chateaux, prehistoric dwellings, caves and wonderful medieval stone towns and villages.
There are several golf courses nearby including the renowned Chateau des Vigiers Golf Club designed by David Steel and offering both 9 & 18 hole courses which is less than a 5 minute drive.
Fishing is available locally on the Dordoge River along with several local lakes.
Wine lovers are more than adequately catered for with the vineyards of Bordeaux, St.Emilion, Bergerac, Monbazillac all close at hand, offering opportunities for tours and tasting.
Directions
Getting to us is easy. Ryanair/Flybe offer flights to Bergerac (about 25Kms), and Bordeaux (about89Kms), from many UK airports.
THe TGV goes to Bordeaux and can be linked into Eurostar.
Motorway access from the channel ports is excellent.
Car hire is available locally or from the airports.
