    Description

    "la Tuilerie", an old stone farmhouse in the Corbières wine growing region of southern France is set in an idyllic valley, the Val d'Dagne, surrounded by the Corbières hills. The property is set next to the river Alsou and we have cascading waterfall running into our own little rockpool, for swimming, we even have a little boat to take out.

    The house is completely south facing, with views over the vineyards. Out the front is your own garden, with swimming pool, sun loungers, dining table/chairs and a barbeque.

    The house has been finished to the very highest standards and has a contempory feel to it but mixed with new and period pieces of furniture. The living room is large, with television (French and English stations) and a stereo, together with a selection of cd's and dvd's.

    The well-equipped kitchen has two sets of french doors, one leading out to the terrace (dining table/chairs/barbeque), the other to the dining room.

    There are two large double bedrooms, both with spacious en-suite bathrooms, which include italian style walk-in showers and separate baths. Both bedrooms have separate toilets. The third bedroom is a single and quite small, with no bathroom, although there is a toilet with wash basin downstairs.

    There is access (shared) down the side of the house to the river garden, which leads you to the natural rock steps down to the rockpool.

    Location description

    We are in the heart of the "Cathar" region of southern France, with many castles, monastries and churches to visit.
    There are also wild life parks in Carcassonne and Sigean.
    The largest walled city in Europe, Carcassonne is just a thirty minute drive, together with the Canal du Midi, both world heritage sites.
    The famous "Blanquette" fizzy wine is from this region, St Hilaire and pre-dates champagne.
    Beaches for families with restaurants, quiet beaches or naturist beaches, are located about an hours drive from "la tuilerie".
    There are two natural local lakes and a secret rockpool, just a ten minute drive from the house.

    Large market in Lezignan every Wednesday.
    Colourful markets in Narbonne.
    Many musical, theatrical, outdoor events organised in Carcassonne throughout the summer season.

    Ryanair flies to Carcassonne (Salvasa) airport from various destinations in England, Belgium, Germany, Scotland and Ireland.
    Ryanir and Easyjet fly to Beziers.
    Easyjet have three flights a day from Paris to Toulouse.
    Many international destinations fly to Toulouse airport.
    You can also get the TGV to either Carcassonne or Narbonne.
