    Description

    Cortijo Los Lobos provides an exclusive holiday environment. The two delightful cottages are part of the 200 year old Cortijo Los Lobos farm and are set amidst beautiful landscaped gardens and olive trees, with horses in picturesque paddocks and Mexican style stables.

    The private 8 x 4metre pool is heated for all year round use and has spectacular 360 degree mountain views and a large secluded sun terrace.

    The cottages have been beautifully renovated, furnished and decorated in traditional rustic style with lots of attention to detail. Both have private patios for outside dining with gas BBQS. The town of Villanueva del Trabuco is a 5 minute drive. Families are very welcome and children love to help with the animals. A haven for birdwatchers, mountain bikers, horse riders, walkers, climbers, photographers and painters; the scenery really is second to none.

    Our many repeat bookings and recommendations reflect the enjoyment and satisfaction of our guests,who comment on the peacefulness and beauty of the surroundings. Ideally situated for visiting all the main tourist attractions.

    Book this cottage, El Granero Viejo on its own, or come with friends and family and book our other cottage, El Establo (see link at right). Whether booking one or both cottages, the large grounds and pool area, and your private patio areas provide you with privacy, should you prefer, and as we live on site in the main farmhouse you can be sure of a problem free holiday in a well cared for environment.

    El Granero Viejo (the old barn) provides the following accomodation: Bedroom 1 with double bed, ceiling fan and electric panel heater, Bedroom 2 with 2 singles (can be king size) on mezzanine floor with spiral staircase (not suitable for very small children or the elderly).

    We can add extra bed or cot.

    Shower room has a cubicle shower, sink with blue mosaic tiles, toilet, electric panel heater, hairdryer. Please ask for baby bath.

    The pretty kitchen has marble work tops and a rustic stone effect sink.

    There is a cooker, toaster, fridge, microwave, iron, ironing board & clothes airer. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need for your holiday.

    Washing machine for guests sole use in pool pump house.

    The charming living/dining area has 2 comfortable sofas, coffee table ,log burner and gas heater for winter, DVD / CD player with large selection of up to date DVDs to borrow free of charge, plus dining table and chairs. A high chair can be provided.

    All towels (except beach towels) and linen included.

    The cottages are a haven for guests requiring a relaxing holiday. We believe the views are some of the best you will find in Spain. Horse riding is available on site but we are not a riding school and if horses are not your thing then don't worry, they don't detract from the beauty or peacefulness of the surroundings. If children like horses, we can even offer parents the chance to go off exploring leaving their children to take part in a horse activity day here at the farm. Babysitting is also available.

    It is a wonderful place for children, who often like to give a hand with the animals. Couples of all ages also enjoy the peace and quiet. We provide you with everything for a comfortable stay but if there is anything you require please ask.

    A welcome pack of basic essentials is provided to get you started.

    Heaters + wood burner provided in cooler months, fans in summer. If you need internet access urgently you can use our facilities and there is also an Internet cafe in the village.

    El Granero Viejo has its own patio with Moroccan style table and chairs, gas BBQ & sofas for relaxing. The cottages are set in colourful landscaped gardens with a central courtyard area with large wooden table that both cottages can share if holidaying together.

    You feel the charm of the beautiful old farm as soon as you park on the cobbled threshing circle. The pool has a 2 metre deep end and 1 metre shallow end. It is heated free of charge, meaning you can swim all year round (might be a bit cold in extreme weather) while enjoying the incredible mountain views, or simply sunbathe on the large terraces. You can use the pool at any time of day or night.

    There are parasols for shade and the many sunbeds are ideal for stargazing - no light pollution makes for a stunning sky! What better way to enjoy the spectacular mountain sunsets than with a drink or meal on the pool patio.

    Smoking permitted outside the cottages, but not near the stables please.

    Full week of long weekend horse riding breaks (for all abailities) are also available - either self catering or full board - see website or contact us for more details.

    Location description

    The village of Villanueva del Trabuco with its many restaurants, shops and bars is a 5 min drive. There is a lovely restaurant in a converted water mill a 5 minute walk away. The beautiful towns of Archidona and Antequera are nearby.

    The nearest 'Tesco' style supermarket is only a 15 minute drive. The countryside surrounding the farm is National Park and popular with Spanish wishing to escape the hustle of the towns. Granada / Malaga 40 mins. Antequerra 25 mins.Cordoba 90 mins. Seville 2 hours.

    Other activities

    Spanish lessons, Paintballing,Hang-gliding, Off road motorbike trails, Bird watching, Skiing.There are numerous water parks and theme parks within and hour from us, also Selwo Safari park, and Selwo Marina
    The Sierra Nevada ski resort is 1 hour 15 mins from the cottage. The season is usually long from beginning of December to end of April. It is great for all levels and has 80km of skiable piste. It is quite possible to ski in the morning and spend the afternoon on the beach. We use the resort ourselves and are happy to arrange guided ski excursions if required.

    Local events

    The town is typically Spanish and has numerous fiestas through the year where you can witness their culture first hand, with the beautiful horses and women in fiesta dresses.

    Tourist attractions

    The famous tourist towns of Cordoba, Granada with the spectacular Alhambra Palace, Malaga, Seville and Ronda are all within easy driving distance. Also the beautiful national park area El Torcal.

    Directions

    From Malaga airport follow signs to Malaga on N340.

    Once onto the motorway and heading towards Malaga you will very quickly see signs for Antequerra N331 (possibly changed to A45).

    Take the Antequerra road. Keep following signs for Granada, Seville, Antequerra. After approx 20 minutes you will be climbing uphill.

    Take signs to Granada where road forks to the right. Pass junctions 20, 16 and 11 all saying Villanueava del Rosario and Villanueava del Trabuco.
    Do not turn off at any of these junctions or you will get lost!

    The next junction will be junction 7 for Villanueva del Trabuco. Come off the motorway here and turn right at the end of the slip road. After approx 5 minutes you will come to a T-junction with a petrol station on your right. Turn left here (signposted for Zafarraya). Follow this road for 5 km. (you will see kilometre countdown markers at the side of the road). The 4km marker has recently fallen down! - We are just before the 5km marker.

    Look for stables on right and old farmhouse and huge oak tree right by road. Turn in where you see the sign on the wall “Cortijo los Lobos” and bear right onto the cobbled threshing circle (parking area).

    Journey time approx 40 minutes.

    From Granada airport leave the airport and head for Malaga.
    After approx 30 minutes you will see a junction for La Palma and the road will fork in two.

    Take the fork for Malaga (not Seville). You will pass a junction for Salinas.

    Take the next junction off – Junction 7 for Villanueava del Trabuco. Come off the motorway and go under the road to the left and head towards Villanueva del Trabuco.

    After approx 5 minutes you will come to a T-junction with a petrol station just in front of you on the right and a road on the left sign posted for Zafarraya. Take this road and follow the last part of the above instructions.
