Description
Named after the barn owls which nest every year at La Haute Mancelière, the original farmhouse is a large, comfortable six bedroomed house with exposed beams which sleeps 12 people easily. The accommodation is made up of 3 double bedrooms (one of which is on the ground floor), 2 twin bed bedrooms (one of which is on the ground floor) and a bunk bed room. There is a bathroom with bath and shower on the ground flooor (also seperate wc). On the first floor there are 2 double bedrooms (one with en-suite shower room), a twin bedroom, a bunk bed room and a seperate shower-room and wc. Facilities include large fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, TV (English and French), DVD, VCR and Wifi internet access. Outside there is a large private terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue, looking out over the garden. Heating: Woodburning stove in the salon and solid fuel central heating.
All the cottages have the large traditional French salon - a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area. Each cottage has it's own private terrace area facing out onto the lovely garden, with quality, comfortable garden furniture, parasols and barbecues. All the cottages are furnished and equipped to a high standard - you will find everything that you would expect in your own home, even down to hairdryers and food mixers.
Bed linen and towels, tea cloths and cleaning/washing products are provided in the cottages. We will also provide cots, high chairs, baby baths and stairgates whenever required.
We have a large selection of books, DVDs and videos (including many children's films) which you are welcome to borrow at any time during your stay. UK satellite TV (freeview channels) and free WIFI access are available in all the cottages.
We also have several mountain bikes (for adults and children), which are you are welcome to use during your stay - ideal for cycling to the boulangerie in the morning to get the all important bread and croissants.

Location description
The property is only 45 minutes drive from the long sandy beaches of the Emerald coast between St Malo and Cancale. There are also lots of historical towns to explore - Fougères, only 15kms away boasts the largest medieval castle in Europe. Dinan and St Malo, both fine examples of beautiful medieval towns are close by to explore. No holiday is complete without a trip to Mont St Michel only 20kms away. We are only 1h30 mins drive from the Normandy beaches and Bayeux.
The surrounding countryside offers many lovely walks and cycle rides, many through established forests which characterize the countryside of the Fougères region. There are at least 4 golf couses within a 45 minute drive of the property for golf enthusiasts and a fishing lake close by for anyone wishing to catch fresh trout for the barbecue!
Tremblay 4kms away, the nearest village, has an 11th Century Church, as well as shops and bars. St Brice-en-Cogles is also only 4km away and this is a larger village with supermarket and restaurants.
The forest of Villecartier is only a 10 minute drive and as well as offering many different walks, there are electronic boats, pony rides and a new attraction, a tree walking 'Parc Acrobatique' high in the trees where you complete a course of varying difficulty whilst attached by a safety harness to overhead cables. There is also a bar/restaurant at the lakeside.

The A84 is the motorway that links the Normandy ports to our area. We are only 10 minutes drive from J30 (Saint Brice-en-Coglès) of the A84.

Deposit/Booking Notes
The price includes:
Bed linen, bath and hand towels (for stays of 4+ nights), tea towels, bathmats; a fresh supply is provided weekly for longer stays.
NB: guests do need to bring their own swimming/beach towels.

End of stay clean (although we do expect the house to be left in a ‘reasonable’ condition)
Stock of the following items for your arrival: toilet paper, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid, tea towels, dustbin liners, all cleaning equipment, and basic kitchen condiments - salt, pepper, sugar, olive oil, herbs & spices, etc., tea, coffee and fresh milk.
Booking Information, Prices and Availability
Deposit: We ask for a deposit of 25% at the time of booking to confirm your cottage rental. The balance payment is due 6 weeks before the start of the rental period.
Payment: We accept Visa or Mastercard credit/debit card payments in euros and bank transfers for the sterling equivalent of the Euro rate.
Damage deposit: Unlike many holiday rental homes, we do not ask for a damage/security deposit. We do, however, kindly ask that you treat our houses with the same care and respect you would your own. We trust guests to report any serious damage, and this will be settled on a case by case basis.
Changeover day: This is Saturday, but is flexible out of high season (May - September).
