Description
Whatever your ages and interests, you will have a fabulous holiday at Gardenia.
When you arrive the caretaker will have ensured the heating has been on as necessary, and the housekeepers will have put freshly laundered linen on the beds. So you will be comfortable from the start. The children can play in the garden after their journey, while you unpack your vehicle which you can park by the front door. You will find the house well-equipped and easy to manage, so you can concentrate on relaxation and enjoyment for the rest of your stay. If you want cosy evenings, the wood-burner is easy to ignite and clean.
You may have ordered an online shop to be delivered or you may choose to take a 5 minute drive to the local shops in Rock, including a high quality butcher, baker, fishmonger, deli and large village store. Alternatively, there are many pubs and restaurants within easy reach, and even take-away pizza and fish and chips.
If you have younger children, they will love the beaches within 10 minutes drive at Rock, Daymer Bay and Polzeath, the playground in Trewint Lane, Rock and the childrens activities at Trevathan Farm shop. Older children and adults will be enthusiastic to try surfing at Polzeath, where equipment can be hired and tuition received. They could also try coasteering at Port Gaverne, north of Port Isaac. If you want to go further afield, there are other lovely beaches and childrens activities, including at Newquay Aquarium and Newquay Zoo within an hours drive.
On a duller day, a visit to The Eden Project will brighten everyone up, as a large proportion is under cover. Wadebridge, just 4 miles away, has a leisure centre with swimming pools, as does The Point at Polzeath, where you can also play golf and tennis.
For keen golfers, The Point is your nearest course, and you will always have a warm welcome. St Enodoc is a famous links course at Rock, and over the Camel estuary is Trevose.
Walking the Cornish coastal path is a popular pastime, rewarding you with fantastic views, but not for the faint hearted. If you prefer a round trip, there is a bus route along the coast road to enable you to take a bus out to your starting point and then walk back to the car. Travelinesw.com will help you to plan excursions.
If you like to sightsee and visit other areas of Cornwall. Gardenia is well connected by road and is only 4 miles from the A39 at Wadebridge which will take you north and south to countless attractive towns and villages, country houses, gardens and historic sites. Links to literary favourites, such as Rosamunde Pilcher (Prideaux Place, Padstow) and Winston Graham (Poldark) along with the TV series of Doc Martin (Port Isaac area), make these visits even more interesting.
Locally, a short and enjoyable trip is to take the Black Tor ferry from Rock to Padstow, where you can enjoy the picturesque harbour, variety of high end leisure clothing shops, and many pubs, cafes and restaurants, including those of Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth.
Foodies will know that Nathan Outlaw has several restaurants locally, including the Mariners at Rock and two restaurants at Port Isaac. The restaurants at St Kew Inn and St Tudy Inn are also in the Michelin guide.
Amateur artists will appreciate the light in Cornwall, and you may like to book a workshop session at a local studio, such as the nearby Wendy Parkyn Gallery, or the Wave 7 gallery near Trelights. A visit to the newly extended Tate at St Ives is a great experience.

Location description
This part of north Cornwall offers a wide range of activities and interesting villages and fishing ports. Cornwall is a very dog friendly county, and if you are a dog owner you will be welcomed in many pubs, cafes and shops.
Along the local coast there are three easily accessible beaches.
Polzeath beach is 4 miles from the cottage and is a favourite for surfing.

Rock beach is also on the Camel estuary, and consists of a long stretch of sand.
Further afield there are many beaches 30 minutes to 1 hour away.
Around the Cornish coast the coastal footpath is well signposted and there are some circular walks that include part of the coast path, such as Pentire Point, the headland north of Polzeath
Fishing ports and villages pepper the coastline. Padstow is a good place to visit, either via the ferry from Rock, or by bicycle along the Camel Trail from Wadebridge. Rock is a sailing centre on the Camel estuary opposite Padstow. Port Isaac, north of Polzeath, is an attractive historic fishing village made recently famous by Doc Martin.
The nearest golf course is the popular and welcoming Point at Polzeath course, with lovely views, a bar and restaurant, tennis, pool and health club that visitors can join on a weekly basis.

Mike and Kim, July 2018
"This is a lovely house with loads of space and all of the facilities that you could ever need. The hosts are great with communicating all the details about how to access and use all of the facilities. The house is in a great location close to the coast as well as a short drive into Wadebridge for the shops. We are looking forward to being back soon."
Rob, Christmas 2018
"Just bring yourself! I have never stayed in a house that was so thoughtfully put together! Anything you could need at a home from home is provided! The house is clean and spacious in a friendly area. The hosts go above and beyond to communicate effectively and promptly - they couldnt have been more helpful or friendly. Its very central to all the beaches, nearby Daymer Beach was our fave for exploring with the dogs and Padstow is only a short drive away. There are supermarkets etc in Wadebridge. We were only there for a couple of days so didnt get to see everything - will definitely be back to the area and we will be booking this house again if its available."
Heather, New Year 2019

Everything we needed and more! Very well equipped and comfortable. Excellent location for our needs. We've found a new North Cornwall bolt hole! See you soon. Many thanks."
Dominic, January 2019
