Description
Our 17th century farmhouse at Chauffour is our home and offers two self-catering holiday cottages: La Grange is a charming three bedroom holiday home, perfect for family holidays. Our converted barn can accommodate up to 7 people and has a large open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen.
La Grange offers:
2 double bedrooms 1 triple room with a single and bunk beds
open plan lounge and dining area 2 shower rooms downstairs toilet well equipped kitchen including dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob washing machine in utility area satellite English TV Freeview channels wifi internet access DVDs dining terrace with table, chairs and sun loungers - charcoal BBQ (coals not included).
La Porcherie offers:
1 large double (6ft bed) on the first floor Adjoining twin bedroom with a cot 1 bathroom with bath and shower over 1 ground floor double bedroom with ensuite shower room conservatory dining area newly installed kitchen with electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and microwave open plan lounge with wood burning stove top loading washing machine satellite English TV Freeview channels wifi internet access DVDs covered terrace with table and chairs for dining charcoal BBQ (coals not included) decked area with sun loungers.
Bath towels, bed linen, tea towels and bathroom mats are included - pool towels available for hire - stair gates, high chairs, changing mat and baby bath included tennis rackets and golf clubs available for hire and there are courts and a 9 hole golf course about 7kms away.
As well as your own terrace and garden area there is a large shared garden area offering swings, slides, toddler see-saw and slide, table tennis table, badminton, boules/petanque, football goal and balls and other garden games. The 12m x 6m swimming pool is fully fenced and offers sun loungers on a raised decking area, table and chairs and an all important hammock under our shady abri.

Location description
Chauffour is located approximately 3kms inbetween the villages of St. Severin and Allemans where you can find bakeries, bars, postoffice, supermarket and lots more. You can walk or cycle from the doorstep on peaceful roads or follow the Cicuit of Roman Churches from Allemans and beyond. If you enjoy walking then the river is less than 2kms away where there is a weir and a lovely place to have a picnic or you can hire a canoe from Riberac or Aubeterre and meander your way along the River Dronne.
Aubeterre is officially one of the prettiest villages in France and hosts lots of lovely restaurants and cafes to soak up the french ambience. Aubeterre has a river beach so set up your chair next to the river and enjoy a good book. There are also beaches at St. Aulaye where there is also treewalking and waterslides. The beautiful Lake Jemaye also has a lovely beach and watersports and is a haven for wildlife. Enjoy a walk through the shady woods or just relax at one of the lakeside cafes.
The old water mill at Poltrot has tree walking for all ages and a free course for toddlers. There is a lovely cafι and Poltrot also holds local evening produce markets where you can buy and cook your own food and enjoy the lovely atmosphere. There is normally an open air cinema on these evenings too. Many of the local villages also hold similar markets and evening art markets and weekly Sunday antique and "empty your loft" markets which are great to browse around. There is normally fresh bread and local produce on sale too.

Canoeing from Riberac, Aubeterre. Tree walking at Poltrot and St. Aulaye.
Local events
Local evening produce markets where you buy and cook your own food. Free music nights in Riberac, Antique and collector's fairs, local markets and loads more events are always going on through the summer.
Tourist attractions
Monolithique church, Aubeterre. Roman church circuit including Allemans our local village. Markets. Caves near Brantome.
Directions
We are in between the villages of St. Severin in the Charente and Allemans in the Dordogne. Budget airlines fly to all the above airports. La Rochelle and Brive are just a bit further.
A car is required as there is no public transport in the area.
