Relax in five-star luxury dog and family friendly cottage by the sea in a peaceful car-free village seconds from the beach in Cornwall’s forgotten corner: the Rame Peninsula. A cream tea with Prosecco on arrival, BBQs in the garden, a concierge service, games for the children and two paddle boards and two kayaks free for our guests to use; Blue Monkey is the perfect destination for a family holiday.
From the moment you step out of your car, you can hear the waves and smell the sea. Located midway between two of the loveliest fishing villages of south Cornwall – Kingsand and Cawsand are as one – is a handsome well-proportioned Georgian house a street back from the sea, Blue Monkey is a tardis of a Cornish holiday home. It is the perfect base, from which to explore Cornwall's forgotten corner. The villages alone have 3 family friendly sandy beaches in a sheltered bay, the more adventurous may prefer the more rugged Whitsand Bay, only a short drive away, ideal for beginners to intermediate surfing.
All generations will love this coastal holiday cottage in Cornwall as it is a brilliant set up for the family. Step in to find carpeted stairs and deep cream sofas, beautiful sash windows and a rustic-chic décor, it mixes contemporary and traditional features, all-white walls, pretty coastal-scene artworks and a sympathetic refurbishment provides a revitalising seaside freshness..
This luxury holiday cottage houses a state of the art kitchen that holds everything you need with crockery by Emma Bridgewater. Store cupboard essentials are provided & fresh bread & milk . The bedrooms are light and airy, the comfy beds are covered in white linen and the luxurious en-suite bathrooms are divine. There is a spacious dining and living room with open fire and the logs are on the house.
There are ample games (Monopoly, Scrabble, Murder Mystery, Connect 4, etc.), 100’s of books, DVDs, 42 inch HDTV, Sky HDTV & Box Office, Fibre Optic Wi-Fi, Bose iPod doc, and plenty of beach toys; cricket bats, body boards, fishing nets, crab lines, boules etc. - all for you. Older children will be in heaven, ambling up and down the winding car-free streets (cars are related to the car park) dropping in on ice-cream parlours and little pocket-money shops; tinies can run the sands and paddle in the rock pools - there are three family-safe beaches in this sheltered bay.
Also there is sunny patio garden with built in seats, safely enclosed for children and dogs, which creates a home away from home, a world away from city life.
The sporty will sail, or trek the coastal path. The walking is a joy and it is an ideal dog friendly cottage.
It's hard to imagine this sweet Cornish house according to locals used to be a pub (Blue Anchor) which Nelson frequented and a cannon ball store (a triangular stack of cannon balls is called a Monkey) hence the name Blue Monkey.
Ideal for: Outdoor families with children and groups of friends who enjoy the great outdoors, water sports and anyone who likes to explore a charming unspoilt picturesque Cornish village and coastline.
Sleeps: 10. There are 3 large double bedrooms, 2 with ensuite, a twin room and a bunk room allowing a total of 10 guests to stay. Three travel cots are also available.
Property style: Spacious grade II listed 18th-century former canon ball store / public house.
Grounds: An enclosed private sun trap garden with table and chairs set into the wall. Perfect for those who need somewhere to escape & unwind or light a barbecue with the dogs roaming free.

Directions
Take the M4 to Bristol and M5 to Exeter.
After Exeter, take the A38 to Plymouth. Cross the Tamar Bridge into Cornwall and follow the A38 through Landrake and Tideford.
Turn left at the Trerulefoot roundabout, signposted A374, Looe, Torpoint & Plymouth.
NB Waitrose is just off the Saltash roundabout and is the last large supermarket before Cawsand (Sainsbury's is a 15 minute drive from Cawsand in Millbrook)
After 4.1 miles, turn right, signposted Crafthole, Portwrinkle & Cawsand (the turn appears very quickly after a left hand bend in the road).
In Crafthole, turn left at the mini roundabout towards Cawsand & Mt. Edgecombe. Follow the lane for 3.7 miles, to and through the outskirts of Millbrook, leaving the village up a hill.
Turn right at the top of the hill, signposted Kingsand & Cawsand (the turn is just before the old Victorian Forelanesend Primary School).
Head down the hill, past some council houses on your right.
Where the road bends right take the left turn down towards Kingsand and head down the main street Fore Street (mini supermarket is on your right)
At the bottom of Fore Street you are in the heart of the village The Half Way House pub is directly opposite to you an Art shop to your left and Skinners public car park is to your right.
We suggest you carry on to Blue Monkey (2 houses up from the Half Way House pub) and use the passing area on the right of the road to unload.
Then return the car to Skinners car park via the one way system. Ł1 is required to enter Skinners car park or if full carry on round to the council run car park in Cawsand.
Just after Exeter, where the M5 becomes the A38, the road splits in two and Sat-Nav can get muddled.
Take care here and keep following signs to Plymouth. The Tamar Bridge is a toll road (it's free to enter Cornwall, but it costs you Ł1 to leave).
Check your Sat-Nav is not set to avoid toll roads, otherwise you will be sent inland, adding 20 mins to the journey

A wonderful venue to create a special weekend celebration. Instantly relaxing and super meals on the kitchen. A special mention to both Annabel for organising and Emma for her wonderful food. Thank you both.
