    It is hard not to feel more than a little bit smug when renting this gem of a coastal chic cottage because its exactly the kind of place people harbour fantasies about living in.

    Nestled in the heart of the exceptionally pretty and quaint village of Cawsand, just a few steps from its sandy bay, winding cobbled streets and pastel-coloured Georgian houses,

    Blue Monkey Cornwall offers a taste of the good life, by the sea with the beach on the doorstep and romantic log fires and claw foot baths inside.

    It is the perfect bolthole to escape to for a bit of family rejuvenation any time of year, whether beach combing and rock pooling in winter with hot chocolate and log fires, or beachside picnics, buckets and spades and long lazy evenings on the terrace in summer.

    It comes as no surprise to learn the house has had something of a celebrity following, although going back some years to when Admiral Nelson was commonly spotted dancing in the lounge in its previous incarnation as the local pub!

    Nowadays, thanks to a labour of love renovation, its picture-perfect Grade II listed, exterior hides a beautifully renovated interior with 5 spacious bedrooms and 4 glamorous bathrooms, including 2 with deep and indulgent free-standing baths.

    Mini guests are well catered for with 2 travel cots, 2 highchairs and stair gates at the top & bottom of the stairs.

    And are commonly accommodated in the pretty twin bedroom or bunk room see website floor plan.

    The enclosed terrace garden at the rear is a lovely space for little legs to stretch, although the beach, just a 10 second dash from the door, is often a stronger draw.

    The spacious open plan living/dining area is a lovely spot for cosy family nights thanks to its plentiful comfy seats, exposed stone walls, wood burner, television with Sky package, Netflix, plus plenty of books board games.

    The dining room is bright and airy thanks to its whitewashed walls warmed by a stone feature fireplace and large wood dining table with seating for up to 10 guests.

    The dining area also provides access to the illuminated courtyard garden with BBQ and seating area, an idyllic spot for morning coffee, lazy afternoons, or evening meals al fresco under candlelight.

    Our large kitchen is popular with families and stylishly kitted out with Emma Bridgewater crockery, Nespresso coffee machine, an electric oven, grill, hob, 2 large fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, food blender.

    The shower room on the ground floor is ideal for washing off the beach and is also handy for dogs, since well-behaved pets are welcome.

    Directions

    Take the M4 to Bristol and M5 to Exeter.
    After Exeter, take the A38 to Plymouth. Cross the Tamar Bridge into Cornwall and follow the A38 through Landrake and Tideford.
    Turn left at the Trerulefoot roundabout, signposted A374, Looe, Torpoint & Plymouth.
    NB Waitrose is just off the Saltash roundabout and is the last large supermarket before Cawsand (Sainsbury's is a 15 minute drive from Cawsand in Millbrook)
    After 4.1 miles, turn right, signposted Crafthole, Portwrinkle & Cawsand (the turn appears very quickly after a left hand bend in the road).
    In Crafthole, turn left at the mini roundabout towards Cawsand & Mt. Edgecombe. Follow the lane for 3.7 miles, to and through the outskirts of Millbrook, leaving the village up a hill.
    Turn right at the top of the hill, signposted Kingsand & Cawsand (the turn is just before the old Victorian Forelanesend Primary School).
    Head down the hill, past some council houses on your right.
    Where the road bends right take the left turn down towards Kingsand and head down the main street Fore Street (mini supermarket is on your right)
    At the bottom of Fore Street you are in the heart of the village The Half Way House pub is directly opposite to you an Art shop to your left and Skinners public car park is to your right.
    We suggest you carry on to Blue Monkey (2 houses up from the Half Way House pub) and use the passing area on the right of the road to unload.
    Then return the car to Skinners car park via the one way system. 1 is required to enter Skinners car park or if full carry on round to the council run car park in Cawsand.
    Just after Exeter, where the M5 becomes the A38, the road splits in two and Sat-Nav can get muddled.
    Take care here and keep following signs to Plymouth. The Tamar Bridge is a toll road (it's free to enter Cornwall, but it costs you 1 to leave).
    Check your Sat-Nav is not set to avoid toll roads, otherwise you will be sent inland, adding 20 mins to the journey
