Description
Overview:
Casa Azul is situated in the countryside midway between the traditional village of Moncarapacho and the fishing-port town of Olhão, and within walking distance of the village of Quelfes. Olhao has bustling markets, sea-front restaurants and off-shore sandy islands. Our delightful guest cottage is set in the grounds of the main house and surrounded by olive and carob trees. Open plan and airy, the guest cottage has retained its traditional feel with pole and cane ceilings and wooden shutters. It has a large covered veranda with BBQ for outside dining, and a private rear patio. On a slightly higher level, guests are welcome to use the healthy mineral-water swimming pool and pool terrace.
Notes on accommodation:
The cottage is open plan but the bedroom area and sofa-bed may be curtained off from the kitchen and TV for extra privacy if preferred.
Cot available by arrangement.
English owners live in the main house and are happy to help with any enquiries you may have, while respecting your privacy.
Outside:
The guest cottage has a large covered verandah with BBQ, furnished with table and chairs for outside dining. Additionally there is a private, shady patio, and a large sun-bathing terrace with loungers. Separate parking area on the lower side of the cottage with private access to the back of the cottage.
Guests have free use of the 9x4m mineral swimming pool and pool terrace, shared only with the owners.

Location description
Coast/Beach:
There are many beaches to choose from within a short driving distance. The nearest ones are formed as off-shore islands located in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and reached by passenger ferries which travel regularly from Olhão, Fuseta and Tavira. If you are a beach lover, see also our beach house to rent.
Distances:
Casa Azul is within a 10 min. walk to the village of Quelfes which has basic shop, cafes and a church. It is a 10 min drive to Olhão, which has the largest fresh fish, fruit and veg. market in the Algarve, restaurants, supermarkets and a train station. Picturesque Tavira is 20 mins. away. Spain is 30 mins away.

Tourist attractions
The Algarve is renowned for its beautiful golf courses, many within easy reach of Casa Azul. These include Maragota just 15 mins away, Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima.
Offshore island sandy beaches are within a 5 minute drive to Olhão followed by a beautiful 10 minute ferry ride. Other beaches within easy access (no ferry) include Fuzeta (10min drive), Praia do Barril (20 min drive) and Faro 'island' which is connected by road (20 mins)
Directions
The easiest way for international arrivals to get to our property is via Faro Airport. The airport is approximately 20 minutes away from the cottage and taxi's are readily available. Car hire is recommended and is available at the airport. Guests will be provided with detailed directions upon booking.For those not wanting to hire a car, airport pick-up and drop-off is usually available.
