Briar Steading (Pets not allowed) is a luxury holiday cottage that is very spacious inside with a modern interior including a fully integrated kitchen, wood burning stove, iPod docking station, Flat screen TV in 3 rooms, Free sat and Netflix, King Size and Twin bedroom both with their own en-suite bathrooms. Glass doors lead from the open plan lounge and both bedrooms to the patio with south facing views over Loch Earn to Glen Ample. Briar Steading has parking for 2 cars, a boat and trailer and its own garden area with a firepit, BBQ and furniture including a purpose built cubed shelter. The cottage also shares the rest of the 3 acre gardens including the loch garden for fishing. This holiday cottage can not accept pets as promised to allergy sufferers.
Pet friendly Little Briar cottage also looks south over Loch Earn. The cottages are detached and sit 80m apart from each other. Both cottages look over Loch Earn to a 15th century private castle in the direction of Ben Vorlich and Stuc A Chroin Munro's. Little Briar Cottage has parking for 2 cars and a secure gated area for pets outside the front door. The sandstone paved deck is surrounded by a wooden and plastic coated wire fence with two gates. Ornamental furniture, a barbecue, chimenea, dog bowls and toys are permanently available. The kitchen area is compact and well equipped. The dining furniture is leather with a glass table and the lounge area offers a comfy leather sofa, chair and footstool. There is free satellite TV with a DVD player. Both cottages are WIFI enabled throughout and there are games, books, DVD's, and plenty of "what to do" leaflets and menu's promoting the surrounding area. The smaller cottage has 1 double and 1 twin room with one bathroom sleeping up to 3 plus 1 pet or 2 adults can bring 2 pets.
The paddock to the rear of the cottages leads to the old disused railway line, now a path way back to the village going left and it connects with the St Fillans Comrie patch going right. A style leads from the garden fence on to the path. A stream runs down one side of the 2 acre grounds that are shared with the owners 300 year old thatched cottage where Fraser and Kim, who regularly attend to the gardens, are on hand to assist you in every way that they can.
The garden on the loch is 250ft long with a slipway, jetty, summerhouse, petanque piste and 6 flag putting. Guests while staying in either of the cottages, can fish for trout free between March 15th and 6th October. A permit is only needed when fishing from a boat out on the water and fishing boats can be hired 2 miles east of the cottages. Ducks, geese, ospreys, wagtails, oyster catchers and other birds are a regular feature. There are 2 pet friendly hotels within a 200 metre stroll from the garden gates. The village store is nearer the T junction where the A85 meets the A84. Major supermarkets will deliver groceries to the cottages using postcode FK19 8PU. There is a 24 hour petrol station at Lix Toll and electric car charging points in the area as listed on Briar Cottages website.
Outdoor enthusiasts could never tire of the walking, cycling, fishing, golf and water sports options in this region with 70 golf courses around Stirling and Perthshire, Sustrans National Cycle route 7 ( the old Callander to Oban Railway line) running through Lochearnhead, many hills and Munroe's within easy reach, Forest Walks, numerous lochs to fish and some fascinating ancient history and folklore covering the Neolithic era, Picts,, Romans, Giants, Ancient Royals, water spirits and fairies, local heroes, the clans and much more. Towering mountains, lochs, forests and wildlife complement each other offering a great backdrop and surroundings to relax and recuperate.
Lochearnhead village is part of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, where west Perthshire and the central belt meet at the foot of the Highlands. This puts Little Briar Cottage, Briar Steading and Lochearnhead at the very heart of Scotland making it the ideal base for day trips to towns and attractions in any direction. Location description
Lochearnhead is a stunning location on the banks of 6.5mile long Loch Earn. Visit the old Victorian railway station and the Callander to Oban Railway line, now a walking path and National Cycle Route 7. Lochearnhead has two watersports and activities centres. See The Falls of Dochart, Rob Roy McGregors Grave, Ardvorlich House (home to the Stewarts for over 6 centuries), Edinample Castle once a Campbell stronghold, Neish Island, St Fillans Village and Golf club, The Queen Elizabeth forest, The Breadalbane Folk Centre, Ben Vorlich and Stuc a Chroin(Munro's) and other parts of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. There are so many choices of things to do and see from this location as Loch Earn is the most central loch in Scotland.

Directions
From Glasgow/Edinburgh/Stirling:
From Glasgow or Edinburgh follow the M9 to Stirling, by-passing the town and leave junction 10 signed Callander. Take the A84 (Callander & the Trossachs) to Callander, continue through Callander on A84 via Strathyre to Lochearnhead. After passing the loch on your right, take the next turn on your right (A85 Crieff) and continue along the loch side until you see Briar Cottage. This is the thatched cottage on your left.
From the North:
Coming from Oban or Fort William, via Tyndrum and Crianlarich on the A85, continue on A85 for about 11 miles after Crianlarich to Lix Toll Filling station where the main road turns sharply right to climb up to Glen Ogle. Continue over the summit of Glen Ogle for about 5 miles after Lix toll. The village of Lochearnhead is at the bottom of the long hill. Turn left to follow the A85 and continue along the loch side until you see Briar Cottage. This is the thatched cottage on your left.
From the East:
From Perth or Crieff, follow the A85 via Crieff, Comrie and St Fillans to find Loch Earn on your left. Continue on this road to the “30mph” sign at Lochearnhead. Look out for the thatched cottage (Briar Cottage) on your right.

When short breaks are advertised on the website then 3 night breaks are 60%, 4 night breaks 70%, 5 night breaks 80%, 6 night breaks 90% of the weekly tariff.
