    Description

    Manesty Band was originally a barn which was incorporated into the old farmhouse in the 19th Century; consequently it has a Victorian feel. Also now part of Manesty Band is the original battery house where Manestys electricity was generated, and the first flush loo for Manesty (one of the first in Borrowdale!)

    Suitable for up to 7 or 8 people.

    The first floor has four bedrooms (two double rooms, one single, and one family room with a double and a single), a bathroom/WC and a separate shower/WC.

    Downstairs there is a large and sociable country style kitchen/dining room with exposed beams, a window seat over looking the valley, and an antique dining table. There is also a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.

    Next door, the sitting room is even bigger than the kitchen, and has a piano and a spectacular almost floor to ceiling Victorian bay window which looks out across Borrowdale.

    There are uninterrupted views across the valley towards Falcon Crag, Shepherds Crag and Kings How from all the rooms, both upstairs and downstairs.

    The Victorian porch leads to a gravelled area with garden furniture flanking the large sloping lawn. From here there is the panoramic view of Borrowdale ranging from Skiddaw in the north, swinging round to the Watendlath fells in the east, the high fells in the south and Maiden moor in the west.

    There is parking for one car at the cottage and further off road parking available nearby.

    Directions

    Leave the M6 at Junction 40 (Penrith), and follow the A66 west for 17 miles to Keswick. From Keswick follow the B5289 and signs for Borrowdale. After 4 miles, turn right over the bridge and through Grange. Manesty is 3/4 mile beyond Grange.
