    Description

    Appletree Cottage is a warm and very dog friendly cottage set in the grounds of an old orchard that used to be part of a farm. Conveniently situated 2.5 miles on the outskirts of Keswick at the foot of Skiddaw and Dodd Wood, it is within easy reach of all Keswick and Lake District attractions and amenities.

    Both Appletree Cottage and The Nuthatch are dog friendly and there are many walks from the doorstep for you to explore.

    General Description
    Appletree Cottage has a small grassed area with a picnic table and fantastic views over the valley to Whinlatter Forest, Grisedale Pike, Catbells, Robinson and Causey Pike.

    There is a small garden area with wildlife stations to help the local wildlife and peanut holders for the abundant number of birds and occasional red squirrels that feed in the area. The grounds are enclosed within a paling fence allowing your pets the freedom within the safety of the cottage grounds.

    There is parking for two cars and a secure bike shed for you to store your bikes.

    The porch area has plenty of floor space for those muddy boots and hanging space for jackets. There is a clothes horse, shelf space and spare leads and collars if needed. From the porch you step down
    into the lounge which has comfortable seating, a digital TV with built-in DVD, and a woodburner stove effect electric fire, lamps, and coffee tables. Wifi is available should you require it.

    There is a selection of DVDs, reading books and Explorer maps 4,5,6 & 7 and for your four legged friends there are dog beds, spare leads and bowls for them to use during your stay.

    The lounge takes you into the fully equipped kitchen which has an electric hob and oven, a microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer, toaster and kettle, a dining table and chairs.
    There is a selection of framed Lake District mountain pictures throughout the cottage to give you a thirst for adventure and a taste of the beautiful scenery.

    Upstairs
    The stairs lead you to a small landing, the two double-bedded bedrooms and bathroom.
    Both bedrooms have luxury divan double beds, dressing tables with mirrors, bedside tables, wardrobes, lamps, CD radio clock alarms and shaving adapters.

    The bathroom is fitted with a Mira shower, bath, slip mat, WC and mirror.

    Tea towels, washing-up liquid, cleaning cloths, hand wash and your initial supply of tea bags, coffee, sugar and toilet rolls are provided.

    The views from the bedrooms take in the beautiful Bleaberry Fell, Walla Crag and Central Fells.

    Location description

    I love the abundance of wildlife that is both at and around the cottages. There are paths up Skiddaw, Carlside, Dodd from the door, a quiet high level road that you walk into Keswick or a low level path that follows the river in to Keswick. The views are breathtaking looking over Bleaberry Fell and Grisedale Pike. At the cottages you have the peace and quiet yet Keswick with its abundance of dog friendly pubs and good grub are only 2.5miles away.

    The Northern Lakes are a fantastic base for exploring the whole of The Lake District which is now a World Heritage Site. The properties are close enough to town but far enough out to avoid the busyness. They are set in a fantastic area to use as a base for walks. At the foot of Skiddaw, both Applethwaite and Millbeck are the two small villages in the area. You are less than 6 minutes drive from Keswick.

Short breaks are available from 20th November 2017 ending 11th March 2018.
